ARK: Survival Ascended Lost Colony Resource Map

Lost Colony is the first new canonical story expansion in the ARK universe, continuing the narrative after Extinction and laying the groundwork for what comes next. Set at Arat Prime during the Necrocene era, survivors awaken at Earth’s southern pole, a world trapped in permanent darkness and crushed beneath extreme cold. Civilization has not vanished entirely, but what remains survives only through unnatural means. Beneath layers of snow and ice, the Lost Colony endures inside massive energy shields, fueled by the volatile warmth of Red Element. Vast tundras scarred by the wreckage of a fallen ARK stretch across the perimeter, while bioluminescent forests glow under shifting auroras. A collapsed volcanic caldera acts as the city’s geothermal heart, channeling heat upward through gothic streets and towering spires. Hot springs offer fleeting sanctuary from lethal windchill, while corrupted crash sites poison the land with radioactive sludge. Every biome reflects a planet held together by force rather than balance, creating an atmosphere that is oppressive, beautiful, and relentlessly hostile. Survival in Lost Colony is not just about endurance - it’s about resisting a world that should no longer exist.

Lost Colony radically expands ARK’s gameplay through new creatures, systems, and narrative-driven mechanics. Survivors will encounter evolved companions born for the cold, massive apex beasts that weaponize ice and terrain, and corrupted horrors twisted by Element and Edmundium. Familiar creatures return as well, altered to thrive in eternal night, reinforcing the sense that nothing here escaped mutation. One of the expansion’s defining features is the introduction of Thralls, bio-engineered soldiers loyal to the Lost King. Unlike traditional tames, Thralls wield weapons, follow tactical roles, and can be commanded, automated, or even directly possessed. They blur the line between ally and tool, allowing survivors to build armies, manage resources, and wage war in entirely new ways. Progression is equally transformed. New skill paths, cursed gear, and advanced crafting stations reward experimentation while demanding sacrifice. Choices matter, shaping both your power and how the world reacts to you. Lost Colony is ARK at its darkest and most ambitious - a survival experience where strength is earned, morality is tested, and the line between savior and tyrant grows dangerously thin.
