ARK Engrams – ARK Server Settings Introduction

While playing on ARK server hosting, you and your friends will experience all walks of dinosaur life. From taming ARK dinosaurs to hiding away from them, gathering resources, and even building bases. When it comes to building and crafting, unlocking the recipes to make them through ARK engrams is a necessity and can often require a lot of excess time. To speed things up, you can adjust the ARK engrams settings on your server.
 
The ARK engram settings are optional on servers and can increase or decrease how many engrams players earn per level. These options can be added through a few simple steps within your server’s Game.ini file. Earning more engrams per level will mean players can unlock crafting recipes faster while decreasing that will result in a harder and longer game time. In this guide, we will show you how to add these options and edit them for a unique adventure with friends on your ARK server!

Getting Started with ARK Engrams

Enabling ARK Expert Mode

Before you can begin adding the engram settings to your ARK: Survival Evolved game server, you’ll need to enable expert mode. When enabled on your server, this mode ensures you can easily edit your important server files including the Game.ini file we’ll need to edit. You can follow the steps in our guide to activate ARK expert mode for your server. Afterward, you can continue to the steps below!

Setting up the Engram Points Per Level Options

To set up the engram points per level options, we’ll need the specific line of code “OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=”. Once we have this, it’s a matter of copying, pasting, and filling out the option for every level you’d like to adjust. For example, if you copy and paste this setting twenty times, after making changes the engram points per level will change for the first 20 levels. In our example below, we’ve made the first 10 levels in ARK give players 15 engram points per level.

Adding the Engram Points Settings to Your Game.ini

1. Head to your ARK server web interface and stop your server.
2. Next, verify that “Expert Mode” is enabled on your ARK server by following our guide.
3. After Expert Mode is enabled, on the left of your server webinterface you’ll need a new option named “Expert Settings”.
4. Use the dropdown to edit your Game.ini file within your Expert Settings.


5. Inside the Game.ini file, scroll down to the bottom and paste the ARK engrams points per level code you created. It should look similar to this example:


6. Afterward, press “Save changes” and start your ARK server. Your ARK server will now provide the engram points per level that you set within your Game.ini server file.
