Join us and together we’ll uncover why your ARK server mods are not working on your ARK: Survival Evolved server and how to get them working!
By default when you first start an ARK: Survival Evolved server, the crossplay option is enabled to allow your server to support both Steam and EpicGames players. When using crossplay to support EpicGames, unfortunately, that launcher does not currently support the use of mods and due to this, when crossplay is enabled it will disable the ability to use mods on your server. Due to this, it is ideal to disable the crossplay setting to ensure you can fully use mods on your server. We will show you exactly how to disable crossplay for your server!

Once your server has been restarted once, you will now be able to use and activate mods on your ARK: SE server!
When using mods on your ARK server, it can be very important that those mods are up-to-date with the latest versions of ARK: Survival Evolved. Otherwise, you can experience issues with the mods and that includes the mods not working. Below, we will learn more about how you can find when a mod was last updated to determine if that mod is outdated.

If the mod is outdated by several months or more, this can often be an indication that the mod is outdated. In certain cases, outdated mods can still work properly and testing trying those mods will let you know if they work or not. When a mod is outdated and isn’t working, the best solution is to remove that mod and replace it with a different mod that is updated. This will ensure you can still enjoy a modified epic ARK adventure!
With the amazing changes that ARK: Survival Evolved mods offer, having mods that perform similar actions can often result in those mods conflicting and experiencing compatibility issues. Mod authors are great at being proactive about informing users about conflicts and so it’s important to check a mod’s workshop page to see if there are any conflicts. We will explore how to check that description for mod confliction warnings!

If there are mod conflicts, you can now go back through your server mod manager to remove those mods. If you’re unsure which mods to remove, we recommend checking the descriptions and mod pages for each mod to learn more about them. You will then know exactly what needs to be removed or replaced to allow your ARK server mods to load and work.
ARK mods offer thousands of exciting new features, creatures, worlds, and more to explore, so when they’re not working it can be an unfortunate issue. By exploring your mods and resolving the reasons behind why those mods will not work, you can get those mods working to ensure that you and your fellow ARK players can have an amazing journey on your ARK: Survival Evolved game server!
