How to Become an Admin on Your Soulmask Server

Running a Soulmask server for your tribe means someone has to step in when things go wrong. Admin mode gives you the console commands to fix problems, adjust the world, and keep your community running smoothly.

In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to set an administrator password in your Nitrado Web Interface. From there, we’ll cover how to use it to become an admin in-game.

Before You Begin

Console commands and admin mode work only on a private dedicated server. They won’t function in a local game or on a public server you don’t manage yourself.

Create an Admin Password in the Web Interface

The administrator password lives in the Gameworld section of General settings. Follow these steps to set it.

1. On the Dashboard, click Stop server, top right of the banner.
   
2. In the left sidebar, click Settings to expand the menu.
3. Click General, listed beneath Settings in the menu.
4. In the Gameworld section, enter a password into the Administrator password field. This is the password you’ll enter in-game to become the administrator.
   
5. Click Save changes to store the new password.
6. Go back to the Dashboard and click Restart server.

The Web Interface won’t save this change while the server keeps running, which is why you stopped it in step one. As a general habit, stop your server before any setting change and restart it once you’ve saved.

Join Your Server

Enter Admin Mode

Once you’re in the game, tap the tilde (~) key to bring up the console. Type gm key [adminpassword], replacing [adminpassword] with the password you set, and press Enter.

The GM panel opens next. Enter your administrator password again at the bottom, then click Become the admin to confirm.

From this panel, you can summon NPCs and objects, and carry out other admin tasks directly.

Using Console Commands

Once you’re an admin, bring the console back up anytime with another tap of the tilde (~) key. Type the command you want to run. Our guide to Soulmask console commands covers the full list, along with the exact syntax for each one.

Setting an administrator password in your Web Interface is the first step toward admin access. Confirm it with the GM panel in-game and you’re set. Head to Settings > General now and save a password, then step in as admin whenever your tribe needs a hand.
