How to Generate a New World on Your Minecraft Server

How to Generate a New World on Your Minecraft Server

An empty, unexplored map brings back the excitement of early-game Minecraft survival. When your current server runs out of resources or suffers from a corrupted save file, a clean wipe is the best way to revive the adventure. In this Nitrado guide, you will learn exactly how to generate a completely new Minecraft world.

Generating a New World on Your Minecraft Server

You have two distinct ways to create a fresh world on your server. Whether you prefer the automated approach of the web interface or want direct manual control over your server files, both methods guarantee a clean slate. Review the options below and choose the path that best fits you.

Method 1: Using the World Manager

The automated interface offers the fastest way to handle your saves. By doing this, you ensure the server cleanly removes the old data and prepares a fresh seed on the next boot.

    1. To prevent data corruption, stop your server before making any changes.
    2. Navigate to Tools \> World Manager.
    3. To clear out the old map, select your current world from the list and click the delete button.
    4. Start your server again. The system automatically creates a brand new world folder upon startup.

Method 2: Using the File Browser

Direct file access gives you more control over your server data. This approach works well if you plan to keep a backup of the old map on the server.

    1. Stop your server.
    2. Navigate to Tools \> File Browser.
    3. Locate the world folder inside your main minecraft directory.
    4. To force the server to generate a new map, delete this folder. You can also rename it to something like world\_old to keep the original data intact.
    5. Restart your server to trigger the fresh world generation.

Pro Tip: 💡 Always download a local backup of your world folder to your computer before deleting it. You never know when a player might want to revisit their old base.

    Resetting the Nether and End

Players often strip the outer dimensions of resources long before the main world feels crowded. You can regenerate just these specific areas without losing your main overworld progress. Read our dedicated guide on how to reset the Nether and End for the exact steps to clear out those dimensions.

    Generate Endless Resources

Your players now have a massive, untouched map ready for new bases and resource gathering. A clean wipe clears out old barren sources and brings back the excitement of early-game survival. Invite your friends, pick a direction, and see what the new seed has to offer.
