How To Install GeyserMC and Floodgate

One of the best ways to grow your Minecraft server is using Geyser and Floodgate. These plugins allow you to enable seamless crossplay between Java and Bedrock Edition. Whether you want to invite friends playing on Xbox, mobile devices, or Windows, you can do that. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to install and set up Geyser and Floodgate in Minecraft 👏
 

Geyser + Floodgate Installation

We offer an automatic installation for Geyser and Floodgate, which we highly recommend. Otherwise, you will need to follow this guide to manually install these two plugins. Here are the instructions for our installer:

1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface for the Minecraft server.
2. Navigate to Tools > Addons on the left from your Dashboard.
   
3. Stop your server at the top right, then click Install for Geyser.
   
   Optional: Choose a specific version of the plugin, if you want.
   
4. Wait for this to be installed, then do the same for Floodgate.
5. Start up the server when both are successfully installed.

Geyser Configuration

1. Navigate to Tools > File Browser on the left from your Dashboard.
   
2. Enter the following path: minecraftbukkit / plugins / Geyser-Spigot
   
3. Click on config.yml to open the file editor for the configuration.
4. Change the address field for the bedrock section to your server’s address.
   
5. Set the port field to your server’s port. Keep it 19132 if you have a dedicated server.
   
6. Change the auth-type field to floodgate, under the java section.
   
   For older servers, this is located under remote. Change the port accordingly.
7. Click Save Changes at the top, then restart the server.

 
You may also edit other options in the gameplay section, such as toggling coordinates for Bedrock players. There’s also MOTD settings you can edit too.

Minecraft 1.19.1+ Required Setup

For Minecraft servers running on 1.19.1 or higher, a chat signing system was implemented. This can prevent Bedrock players from joining your server, if you are using 1.19.1 or 1.19.2. Anything higher will only limit chat for these types of users. The following steps show you how to disable this security feature (which will not harm your Minecraft server):

1. Navigate to Settings > Config Files on the left from your Dashboard.
   
2. Choose the server.properties file, then locate the enforce-secure-profile option.
3. Once found, change this to ‘false’ and click Save Changes.
   
4. Restart the server to apply these changes, then test if this worked with Bedrock users.
