Minecraft Bedwars Plugin Server Guide
Minecraft Bedwars Server Guide – Introduction
While playing Minecraft, players are taken far and wide across hundreds of worlds and servers to explore. There are survival worlds filled with dragons, creative worlds where players can build without limits, and even minigame worlds that bring tons of fun. Minigames in particular are great at bringing players together and one such minigame, Minecraft Bedwars, is one of the most popular to add and play on worlds and Minecraft servers.
Bedwars is a minigame where teams of players are spawned across different floating islands on a map. Each team’s goal is to protect their bed that is on their island, gather resources, upgrade weapons and armor, and defeat the enemy teams. Additionally, Bedwars boasts many customization options to build your own Bedwars arenas, set custom shops, unique teams, lobbies, and so much more.
When it comes to adding Bedwars to your Minecraft server, there are a handful of steps needed to build and set up the arena before players can start battling it out. Follow along with this guide with your own Minecraft server as we show you how to install, set up, and play Minecraft Bedwars with your friends and fellow players!
How to Install Minecraft Bedwars to your Minecraft Server
Before Installing Minecraft Bedwars
Before your server will support Minecraft plugins, it’ll need to be set to the correct server type, which is Minecraft Bukkit/Spigot. If your server is not set to this server type or you’re unsure if it is, you can press the “SWITCH GAME” option on the left side of your server webinterface to check.
- When “Minecraft (Bukkit / Spigot)” is installed, you’ll see “✅ Active” next to it.
- If Minecraft Bukkit/Spigot isn’t installed, you can search for it and press “Install”.
Recommended Bedwars Plugins
When it comes to free Minecraft Bedwars plugins available to use, they are few and far between. While there are not many, there is one that is fantastic and includes great features like shops, rewards, multiple arenas, and more. That plugin is called Screaming Bedwars and it supports the latest versions of Minecraft, ready for you to add, set up, and play on your Minecraft game server!
How to Install the Plugin
-
- First, download the Screaming Bedwars Minecraft plugin.
- Next, go on your Minecraft server webinterface and stop your server.
- Then, on the left under “Tools”, click “File Browser”.
- In your Minecraft server files, go into the folders “minecraftbukkit” ➜ “plugins”.
-
- While in the plugins folder, press the “Upload file” option.
- Next, locate the Bedwars .jar file on your computer, select that, and then click “Open”. Allow that plugin file to fully upload.
- Finally, restart your server to finish installing that Minecraft Bedwars plugin.
How to Set Up Minecraft Bedwars
-
- To begin, you’ll first need to ensure that you have done the following:
-
-
- Screaming Bedwars will need to be installed.
- At least one arena will need to have been built for setup.
- A Bedwars game lobby will also need to be built for each arena. The lobby is the location where players will wait before a match starts.
- Next, you’ll need to create the arena name. To do that, run the command /bw admin <arena-name> add.
-
- Once the arena is created, you’ll need to go to the very top corner of the arena and then type the command /bw admin <arena> pos1. Then, you’ll need to go to the opposite corner at the very bottom of the arena and type /bw admin <arena> pos2. This will set the arena’s coordinates.
-
- After the arena is set, you can now create the teams for each Bedwars island. If there are 4 islands, you should create 4 teams. To create a team, use the command /bw admin <arena> team add <team> <color> <max players>. For <team>, you can set the team’s name. Then for <color>, you can use colors such as green, red, blue, orange, yellow, etc. Finally, for <max players>, this will be based on how many players you’d like to join the arena. For example, if you’re wanting to have 16 players join a Minecraft Bedwars arena and there are 4 teams, you can have 4 players on each team.
-
- Next, you’ll need to set each team’s spawn point. Stand on each Bedwars island and type the command /bw admin team spawn <team> to set that team’s spawn point. At least two teams are required for a Bedwars arena.
-
- Following adding each team’s spawn point, you’ll then need to stand on the bed for each of those islands and set that team’s bed position with the command /bw admin <arena> team bed <team>.
-
- You’re almost done with the main setup! From there, you can now go to the Bedwars lobby you built and set the lobby with the command /bw admin <arena> lobby. Additionally, you can set a spectator spawn with /bw admin <arena> spec for players to still be able to watch if they lose.
- After setting the spawns, you can begin adding any extra customizations that you’d like to the arena with the following commands:
- /bw admin <arena> time <seconds> – Sets the game duration for the arena.
- /bw admin <arena> pausecountdown <seconds> – Determines the pause countdown before an arena match starts.
- /bw admin <arena> minplayers <minimum> – Sets how many players need to join before the game will start.
- /bw addholo – Adds a hologram that displays a player’s Bedwar stats. This is great for the lobby area of your arena.
- /bw admin <arena> spawner add <bronze|gold|iron> [enable hologram] [starting level – default: 1] [custom name] [[team name] [max spawned resources] or just [max spawned resources] without team name] – Adds a spawner to the map with optional variables to set it for a specific team, add a hologram, set a starting level, and more.
- /bw admin <arena> store add [name of villager] [file with shop] [use main shop] – This command adds a shop villager to your arena.
- We recommend adding a store to each island so that players can purchase gear and upgrades.
- /bw admin <arena> arenatime <day|night|etc> – Sets the time of the arena.
- /bw admin <arena> arenaweather <default|clean|downfall> – Sets the weather for the arena.
- Finally, after you have finished the setup, type the command /bw admin <arena> save to save the arena and activate it! The Minecraft Bedwars arena is now ready to join and play!
- In the future, if you need to edit the arena you can use the command /bw admin <arena> edit. You can also delete arenas with /bw admin <arena> remove.
How to Play Bedwars and Join Arenas
Now that you have a Bedwars arena, it’s ready for players to join. Players can either use a command to join or a join sign that you create.
-
- For players to join through command, they’ll need to type /bw join <arena-name>.
- To create a join sign that players can click, place a sign and add the text:
-
- On the first line: [Bedwars] or [BWGame]
- On the second line: <arena-name>
- With the sign created, you can also create an additional sign in the lobby for leaving:
- On the first line: [Bedwars] or [BWGame]
- On the second line: leave
After joining a Minecraft Bedwars arena, players will be able to select a team by clicking the compass:
Once you have picked your team and the minimum needed players have joined, the Bedwars match will start and you can begin your epic battle against others!
