    Server-Icon in Minecraft

    Server-Icon in Minecraft

Whenever you search through the Minecraft server list, what do you see first? The icon. Whether you host a large, small, or private community, having your own server icon is important. This determines a player’s first encounter with your server, which means a lot if you are trying to advertise. Otherwise, it’s a good way to personalize your community. Regardless of your reasons to have it – as a server owner you need to understand it. With this in mind, we’ve created this Nitrado guide to show you how to add a server icon for your Minecraft server 👏

What is a Minecraft Server Icon?

A Minecraft server icon is the first thing that players see when adding your server to their list. It can also play a role in advertising, depending on what you do with the server. It was first introduced in Minecraft 1.7.2, a long time ago. However, it still plays an important role even today!

A Minecraft server icon must follow these requirements:

    • Dimensions: Exactly 64×64 pixels.
    • Format: PNG format (.png).
    • Filename: Must be named exactly server-icon (case-sensitive).

    Adding a Minecraft Server Icon

    1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface for the Minecraft server.
    2. Navigate to Tools > File Browser from the Dashboard on the left.
      Nitrado File Browser
    3. Click Upload File at the top right, select your server-icon.png file.
    4. If the file already exists, delete it and upload a new one.

    5. Wait for this upload, then restart the server to apply the changes.

    Bungeecord & Velocity

If you’re trying to add a server icon to a Minecraft network, Bungeecord or Velocity, the process is similar to normal servers. Follow the steps below to get started!

    1. Navigate to Tools > File Browser from your Nitrado Web Interface.
    2. Enter your primary folder for Bungeecord or Velocity, same area as the proxy config file.
    3. Click Upload File and choose your server-icon.png, then wait for it to finish.
    4. If this file already exists, delete it and upload your new one.
    5. Restart your proxy server to apply the server icon.

    Personalize Your Minecraft Server!

Adding a tailored server icon is one of the easiest yet most effective steps toward building a unique server identity. Once you have established your visual footprint in the server list, you can continue expanding your server personalization by customizing your Message of the Day (MOTD), creating dynamic world maps, and building custom decorative lobbies to deliver an unforgettable first impression for everyone who joins your community! 🎮
