Valheim Seeds – Custom Worlds Introduction

The world of Valheim brings you on a magnificent survival journey across procedurally generated worlds inspired by Norse mythology featuring towering skyscraper-like trees, beautiful waterfalls, chilly frosted fields, and an assortment of other unique biomes. With many unique areas inside Valheim, custom worlds using Valheim seeds enables you to generate your own entirely custom world where biomes and bosses can spawn in different locations.

By using custom Valheim seeds on a server everyone can experience your distinctive world whether you’re trying a seed that places all of the major biomes on your starting island or a seed that makes the game more difficult with a small starting island surrounded by a Black Forest. Valheim Seeds For Servers – Is It Possible?

Valheim servers do support worlds that have a custom world seed, however, it is currently not possible to set a custom world seed directly on a server. Instead, the workaround of being able to use a custom world on a server does allow for using worlds with a custom seed, which can be uploaded from Valheim single-player to your server. Below, we will go over how you can create your own exclusive world with Valheim seeds and then upload that world to your dedicated Valheim server.

How To Create Worlds With Valheim Seeds

Creating The Custom World In Single-player

1. 1. Open the Valheim game.
   2. Press “Start Game” and then select a character or create a new one.
   3. Under the “Select World” UI, press the “New” option.

1. 1. You can now set the name and seed of the new world. Press “Done” afterward.

1. Select that world and click “Move to Local” to allow you to find that world in the next steps to add that custom world to your server.
2. Then press “Start”. This will spawn you into the world to be sure that is the world you’d like to use and add to your server.
   • If the world doesn’t look correct, or you’d prefer to try different Valheim seeds instead, back out to the main menu and repeat the steps above.

Uploading Custom Worlds To Your Valheim Server

1. 1. To begin, access your single-player Valheim world files by first searching “%appdata%” on your Windows search and then pressing “Enter”.

1. 1. Your %appdata% files will open to a “roaming” folder and you’ll need to “AppData” at the top of the file browser to go back to this folder.

1. 1. From the “AppData” location, click through the following folders:
      \LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local\
   2. Find the world .fwl file for the world you’d like to upload to your server and keep this folder open. In our example, we will be uploading “NitradoTutorial.fwl”.

1. 1. Next, log in to your server’s FTP using an external program.
   2. Once in your Valheim server’s FTP, click the following folders:
      \valheim\savedata\worlds_local\
   3. Proceed to upload your single-player .fwl Valheim world file to your Valheim server’s “worlds_local” folder just like this:

1. 1. Once uploaded, go to your Valheim server control panel, and on the left side, press “General” under “SETTINGS”.

1. 1. In the “World name” setting, change this to the name of the world you uploaded without .fwl at the end, press “Save changes”, and then restart your server.

1. During startup, your Valheim server will now load that custom Valheim world!
