Astroneer – 2021 Roadmap Update #2

Greetings! The Jet-Powered Update, like the name suggests, will be adding a new way to “jet” around your world. Two new vehicles and a brand new mission chain have been added to the game. The missions will need to be completed in order to acquire these new vehicles. The missions will also introduce new items along with a new gameplay system. Let’s take a look at the first vehicle released with the Jet Powered Update!

Astroneer – Jet-Powered Update details

Let’s jump into some of the main features and additions with the newest update:

Main Features:

• New missions have been added for investigating experimental EXO Dynamics data.
• Compass navpoints for mission-critical points of interest:
  • Data Recorders
  • MATs (Material Analysis Transmitters)
• EXO Chips: Acquired from an EXO cache destroyed with dynamite. Found on all planets.
• Leveling Block in Adventure Mode: Same function as in Creative Mode, but with limited uses.

The Hoverboard

Zip-around on planets like Marty McFly with the new hoverboard. In a recent reveal stream, the developers went into details of the new vehicle, showing off the hoverboard and its capabilities! This handy hoverboard can be deployed directly from your backpack and only consumes power when in use. A quick way of carrying those larger items across the map!

VTOL

The VTOL will prove to be useful and versatile through your planetary adventures. This flying vehicle is capable of hovering in place, or blasting across the sky. Use it to survey for resource deposits from above, skip over treacherous terrain, or navigate the vertical depths of the planetary cave systems.
