How to Find Copper and Other Early Resources in Windrose

Early progression in Windrose is all about building momentum. Before you can mine valuable resources, you’ll need to gather some basics. Collect wood from trees or logs, and pick up stone from rocks on the ground. With these materials, build a workbench using 5 wood, then craft a stone pickaxe with 3 wood and 3 stone. This tool is essential for mining ore and progressing further. Afterwards, you can begin finding copper and other resources in Windrose 👏

Finding Copper

Once you have your pickaxe, begin exploring your starting island. Copper is typically found in caves or mineral-rich areas, and you’ll know you’re getting close when a pickaxe icon appears on your map. These locations often sit closer to the center of the island.
 
Inside caves, look for bluish white ore veins – these are copper deposits. Mine them with your pickaxe to collect copper ore, but stay alert. Caves often contain enemies, so be prepared before heading too deep.

Smelting Copper Ingots

After collecting copper ore, the next step is refining it into ingots. Start by building a charcoal kiln using 25 wood and 20 clay, which allows you to convert wood into charcoal. Then build a smelting furnace with 15 clay and 30 stone. With both structures ready, you can smelt copper ingots using 6 copper ore and 1 charcoal per ingot. These ingots are required for crafting stronger tools and unlocking the next stage of progression.

Gathering Other Early Resources

While searching for copper, you’ll also need to collect other essential materials to support your progression. Wood and stone remain core resources for crafting and building, so keep a steady supply. Clay is especially important early on and can be found in dark, muddy patches on the ground. Mine it with your pickaxe when you see it!
 
Food is just as important as materials, as it keeps you alive. Gather plants when you explore or hunt small creatures like dodos and crabs. Fishing is another reliable way to keep your food supply stable, especially before longer mining trips.
