The new Minecraft 1.21 update is here with a ton of new things to discover! From structures, mobs, new blocks, and even new ways to travel between dimensions! Below, we’ll guide you through the new content you can find on your Minecraft server.
To share our excitement for this Minecraft update, we are offering a deal on your own Minecraft servers! Lasting from 7th – 23rd June, you can use the promo code “TRICKYTRIALS” to get a 20% discount on new Minecraft servers. That way, you can play with friends and discover all the new things in the “Tricky Trials” update!
First of all, I’d like to introduce you to the new structure you can explore, the “Trial Chamber.” This structure spawns randomly below the surface of the overworld, between Y:-20 and Y:-40 and is relatively easy to find. These are mostly located under large bodies of water like lakes or the ocean.
Entering this set of chambers, you’ll encounter new copper and tuff blocks forming rooms that you can explore and collect all the resources within them. But be careful, as it won’t be easy; in these chambers, you’ll face fierce enemies that want to end your adventure.
Around the chambers, you’ll find the new “trial spawner,” which spawns mobs depending on the number of players around. These creatures will come in waves and once you defeat all the spawners will be rewarded with some loot. Here you can encounter any type of hostile creature, including the new mob Bogged. Stay alert because among all the enemies, you’ll find the other new mob Breeze, looking like a small tornado with a head. Breeze will attack you with wind gusts pushing you into the air.
If these challenges seem too easy, you can increase the difficulty by performing an “Ominous Event” which can be activated by entering the trial chamber with the “bad omen” effect. Before entering the chamber, you’ll need to drink the potion to activate it. This will make all the trial spawners change, now they will generate mobs every 8 seconds. and will have a chance to spawn with armor. This new spawner also will produce 2 projectiles, one with a lingering effect randomly selected over de 7 in existence and the other can be one of the following: Poison arrow, slowarrow, fire charge wind charge, bottle o´enchanting. Once you overcome this new difficulty, the loot will be greater and much more valuable.
Now that you know how it works it’s time to talk about the rewards you can find inside these chambers after you defeat all the enemies. Scattered around, you’ll find chests and jars. The highest value rewards are found in the new trial spawners and vaults, these last are accessible only with the trial key found only inside the trial chamber mainly in the trial spawners. In these vaults, you can find the highest rewards ranging from enchantments, enchanted weapons, diamond armor, or even loose diamonds! For all collectors, inside these chambers, you’ll find exclusive loot. These include new design patterns (two of them) that you can place on armor, banners, and jars. Additionally, you can find the three new music discs added to Minecraft’s soundtrack. If this loot looks too poor, remember that by doing the ominous trial you will receive much better loot. This loot can range from enchantments, blocks of iron, emerald or even diamonds to exclusive items like music discs and the new heavy core, needed for the new weapon the mace.
In this update, you’ll find some new mobs added to the Minecraft world. We’ll introduce each of the new creatures you can find in the new “Tricky Trials update.”
The Bogged is a kind of skeleton that spawns in any kind of swamp biome. They look like they are covered with some kind of moss and always have mushrooms growing in their heads. This new type of skeleton has the ability of poisoning you for 4 seconds with their projectiles. So be careful the next time you explore the swamps at night.
Appearing only in the trial chamber, Breeze mobs spawn from trial spawners. This little tornado is a feisty enemy. Although it doesn’t deal much damage per hit, it is quite difficult to eliminate since projectiles don’t affect it and its attack sends you flying into the air. After elimination, they only dropped Breeze Rod. You can use these little sticks to make wind charge, the new mace and the new Flow Armor Trim Smithing Template.
Another interesting change brought by the 1.21 update is the improvement in how portals work. Both in the Nether and the End, portals have undergone some changes.
Now, you can cross the portal on any means of transport, both as a player and with other entities like the “chicken jockey”. That means you can now cross to the Nether with your horse or your donkey. Also you can connect the overworld with the Nether by train rails and travel through it without problems.
Another feature is that from now on, ender pearls will cross the portal and continue flying through the Nether! The direction you throw them in also matters, as they will keep flying in that direction and will only teleport you when they hit a block on the other side. So be careful and be ready for your next adventure.
Similar to the Nether changes, now you can travel to the End using ender pearls. In this case though, when you enter the End you will always appear in the center of the obsidian platform. Speaking of that, now the obsidian platform regenerates all of the blocks you may break.
While in the trial chamber, new mobs and portal travel changes are the most significant additions in this update, they are not the only exciting changes that have arrived. Below, I present the other wondrous changes along with more details on some of the new things.
You can now attach ropes to boats, allowing you to pull and drag them behind you. This opens up endless possibilities for transporting items and mobs, like villagers or pets, regardless of whether they are on land or sea.
As we saw earlier, this update introduces several new blocks, both for construction and utility. For construction, we can find new designs that you can create with copper and tuff. These naturally appear inside the trial chamber, forming its walls and floors. Now you will be able to craft more than 50 new blocks, between various colors of copper blocks and the new tuff blocks. Let your imagination flow and create all kinds of new structures.
Now you can craft automatically with the new table “the crafter”. This allows you to select a recipe and let the block handle the crafting. You just need to supply the necessary resources for this small table to create endless items quickly and efficiently. This automatic crafter needs to be impulsed by redstone. It may seem like a small thing at first glance, but for all lovers of construction and engineering within Minecraft, it revolutionizes how they create resource farms.
The mace is the new weapon added to the Minecraft world. It works like any other melee weapon in the game but the mace increases its damage if you fall on the enemy from a height of more than two blocks. This weapon is easy to craft but difficult to obtain its materials –You will need a breeze Rod and a heavy core. The breeze rod is easy to find because the breeze drops it always you defeat it. The heavy core on the other hand, has a chance of only 7.5% to appear as a loot of the Ominous vault in the trial chamber. Making the mace a late game object.
For all decoration and art lovers, patch 1.21 includes 20 new designs for your walls. Discover the unique qualities of each of these works and decorate your home with the best art you can find within Minecraft.
As you may have noticed, the 1.21 update is packed with a lot of new features. From the trial chamber presenting new challenges to face and overcome, to new peaceful and hostile mobs. Better ways to travel between dimensions. New weapons with the introduction of the mace. All this and much more is what this update has for you.
