Valheim 1.0 Arrives with the Deep North Update

Valheim 1.0 Arrives with the Deep North Update

Valheim has left Early Access after years of updates! Today marks the release of 1.0, bringing the Deep North biome to the game.

The update also brings Valheim to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. With full cross-play available from launch, this means a group of friends can all join an adventure together in one world with Nitrado.

What’s New in the Deep North

The Deep North sits at the northern edge of the map and hits harder than the Mountain biome. New enemies include the ancient Gammeltroll and the burrowing Elakingar, alongside the new Winding Tunnels.

Players get a grappling hook for climbing icy terrain, plus an ice-skating mechanic for frozen lakes. New gear includes three armor tiers, a family of Nord weapons, and the Frostfire crossbow.

The build menu also gains a search bar, a favorites list, and a recent-crafts browser to make it easier to manage your inventory.

Existing Valheim Worlds

Anyone who already purchased Valheim in Early Access will get the 1.0 update free. And with the new biome and the influx of PS5 and Switch 2 players, it’s the perfect time to return to the game!

Existing worlds will work with 1.0, but it’s recommended that players start a new world to get the full experience. For modded servers looking to play 1.0, you will have to wait until mods are updated for compatibility with the new version.

Valheim Plays Best as a Group

Valheim is best with a small group instead of a solo grind. One player can chop wood and raise the walls while another scouts the next biome or forges the resources.

The Deep North raises the stakes further than other biomes. Gammeltrolls and Elakingar hit hard, and a Winding Tunnels clear faster with someone watching your back and someone else hauling the loot home.

Splitting the work also splits the discovery. Someone always has a new boss fight, a new recipe, or a new stretch of coastline to bring back to the group.

Renting a Valheim Server with Nitrado

A private server keeps the world alive for everyone at all times, so players can scavenge and build their bases when other players are offline.

Existing Nitrado Valheim server owners can update to version 1.0 through the Nitrado Web Interface.

New players can rent a Valheim server and have it ready for the Deep North in minutes. Friends can join in from any platform. Time to explore the Deep North with your friends!
