How to Use Admin Commands in ARK: Survival Evolved

Using Admin Commands on Your ARK: Survival Evolved Server

Your ARK: Survival Evolved server spans scorched deserts, ocean trenches, and ruined lands full of creatures to tame. Running it well sometimes means stepping outside normal play. Admin commands let you fly across the map, spawn gear and dinosaurs on demand, and fix problems without farming for hours first. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to turn on admin commands on your ARK: Survival Evolved server, and give you the full command list to work from.

To use admin commands in ARK: Survival Evolved, join your server and open the in-game console. Type enablecheats <adminpassword> with your server’s admin password to switch admin mode on. From there, every command below runs straight from the console or through the in-game admin menu.

How to Enable Admin Commands on Your ARK: Survival Evolved Server

    1. Begin by ensuring that you are an admin on your ARK: Survival Evolved server. You can give yourself ARK admin access.
    2. Once you have admin access, start the ARK: Survival Evolved game on your preferred system and join your ARK game server.
    3. When you’re on your server, open the in-game console and type enablecheats ADMINPASSWORD to give yourself admin privileges.
Entering the enablecheats admin password command in the ARK: Survival Evolved console
    1. Once you have joined and have admin access, open the in-game console on your game system:
      • PC: Tab key (if you’re using a keyboard and mouse on a console, this also works)
      • PS4: L1, R1, Square, and Triangle (while in the pause menu)
      • Xbox One: LB, RB, X, and Y (while in the pause menu)
    2. You can now enter ARK commands in the console. This is an example of typing the showmyadminmanager command.
Typing the showmyadminmanager command in the ARK: Survival Evolved console
    1. After typing that command, press the Enter key on a PC or press the ADMIN COMMAND option on a game console to run it.

    1. Alternatively, you can run commands through an admin menu with the console command showmyadminmanager.

The admin menu holds a cheat manager alongside the rest of your day-to-day server tools, so it is worth keeping open during events or testing.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How Do I Spawn Items in ARK?

Spawning items in ARK: Survival Evolved starts with cheat giveitem or cheat giveitemnum. Use giveitem when you have an item’s blueprint path, or giveitemnum if you only know its item number. For a fast supply top-up instead of one specific item, cheat giveresources adds 50 of each base resource, and cheat givecolors fills your inventory with dye instead.

What’s the Difference Between giveitem and giveitemnum?

cheat giveitem spawns an item using its full blueprint path, a long string unique to that object. cheat giveitemnum uses a shorter item number instead, which is quicker to type but only works for items that have one assigned. Blueprint paths cover every spawnable item in the game, so giveitem is the more reliable option when an item number isn’t available.

How Do I Teleport in ARK?

cheat teleport moves you forward until you hit an object or the edge of the map, which works well for short hops. For a precise destination, cheat tpcoords sends you to exact map coordinates. To bring another player to your location instead of moving yourself, use cheat teleportplayeridtome with their Steam64 ID or cheat teleportplayernametome with their in-game name.
