Now, let’s creak below and discover together all the new features and how to get started in this update!
The Pale Gardens is a new biome with a unique mood and identity. While it can feel very peaceful during the day, there’s an eerie vibe that doesn’t let you fully relax, you’ll be like What’s going on here? Then, during the night, it’s a whole different story. When darkness falls, you’ll experience a different atmosphere, switching moods from mysterious to pretty creepy! With this biome, there are new features that expand the game’s playability and creation opportunities.
You’ll know you’ve found the Pale Garden biome by the shady ambiance of its distinctive vegetation. The first thing you’ll notice is the new Pale Oak Tree, from which you can get Pale Oak logs, that can be crafted into the Pale Oak wood set, so no more having to dye your wood for white wooden houses or fences.
You’ll also encounter the new Pale Moss Block, a white moss variant that carpets the floor of the Pale Gardens, it expands to nearby blocks and can be spread with bone meal. The Pale Moss Carpet acts similarly to the other moss carpet types in Minecraft, but its unique pale green tone is perfect to add mystery to any build!
Another addition that is definitely key to the eerie mood in the Pale Gardens, is the Pale Hanging Moss. The hanging moss inhibits what you can see while exploring this biome, you really need to trust your instincts here as you don’t know what will be behind the moss. This hanging moss can be taken and placed into builds, it will spread to surrounding blocks and can be mined using shears or an enchanted tool with Silk Touch.
There’s also the new Eye Blossom Flower, a beautiful flower that during the day stays closed, and at night opens into a beautiful lighted flower. It can be used for dyes and suspicious stews with unique effects like blindness or nausea.
It is important to mention that although animal mobs don’t spawn in the Pale Garden, hostile mobs do. So, if you’re exploring the Pale Gardens at night, be well-armed and keep your eyes wide open for zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders, endermen, witches, and the brand new Creaking mob.
The Creaking is a tree-like creature that camouflages among the Pale Oak Trees. It spawns at night in the Pale Gardens biome, and it adds a new combat challenge as it does not receive damage directly, but can inflict damage on you. The Creaking does not move while you’re looking in its direction, but as soon as you look in another direction, it will move toward you, and it will move fast, be ready for some jumpscares!
The Creaking is connected to a new living block, The Creaking Heart, which is what you should be looking for if you’re planning to take the creaking mobs down.
The trees containing the creaking heart will also give a new resource, Resin. Only in those trees you will see some shiny orange spots, that’s the resin. You can obtain it by breaking those blocks with your hand or by breaking the creaking heart without the silk touch. You can apply the resin in any block, creating cool variations. You can also heat the resin in the furnace to create the Resin Brick, from which you can craft the Resin Block, Resin Bricks, Resin Slab, Resin Brick Stairs, and Resin Brick Wall. Resin can also be used to trim armor.
To understand how The Creaking and The Creaking Heart are linked, you can see the Creaking Heart as a puppeteer and the Creaking as its puppet. Being the Creaking Heart who controls the Creaking, it is the Creaking Heart that you have to destroy to take the Creaking down.
To triumph in your confrontation against the Creaking by destroying the Creaking Heart, you must find it first among the blocks of the Pale Oak Tree. To find the heart, you can hit the Creaking and a particle trail will be shown, it will direct you to the block where the Creaking Heart is hidden. Now that you know which direction to follow, start breaking Pale Oak blocks until you get to the heart, once the heart is destroyed, as if by magic, the mob will disappear.
Once you’ve obtained the Creaking Heart, you can place it anywhere you want, whether you use it as a strategy in your PvP game, or just to scare the hell out of your friends.
Minecraft’s update 1.21.4, The Garden Awakens invites you to experience a tranquil, yet eerie atmosphere, a side of Minecraft never before seen in the base game.
Whether you want something quiet like experimenting with the new Pale Oak Wood or Resin and collecting it during the day in the Pale Garden, or you are looking for an adrenaline rush and prefer to explore at night, this new update expands the possibilities of Minecraft gameplay even further.
