How to Join a GMod Server – Introduction

Basics of How to Join a GMod Server

Finding Your Server’s IP Address & Game Port

Before you can begin on your journey to join a Garry’s Mod server, you’ll need the IP address, game port, and if one exists, the server password. When owning a GMod server, you can find the IP address information directly on your Nitrado server webinterface. Once you’re on your GMod server panel, look to the top left and you’ll find the IP address plus the port needed to connect to your server:

Connecting with the Steam Server Favorites List

1. 1. Firstly, start Steam on your computer.
   2. Next, at the top under the “View” tab, click on “Game Servers”.

1. 1. Within the “Servers” window, click on the “Favorites” tab.
   2. Then, click the “Add A Server” (+) option to add your GMod server.

1. 1. Input your server’s IP address and game port.

1. After, click “Find Games At This Address” to test the server connection.
2. Lastly, press “Add This Address to Favorites”, select the server, and press “Connect” to join!

Using the Steam Launch Options

1. 1. To begin, open Steam and go to your game library.
   2. Next, find Garry’s Mod, right-click it, and press “Properties…”.

1. 1. A new window will open. Locate the “Launch Options” section.
   2. There, add the text “+connect IPADDRESS:GAMEPORT”.

      • If the server has a server password, you’ll need to include “+password “PASSWORD””.

2. Finally, close that window and start Garry’s Mod to connect to your game server automatically!
