This level of difficulty can often be discouraging for new players, but thankfully, if you know about DayZ loot quantity you can change that as a DayZ server owner!

     

    Loot quantity in DayZ provides you with the ability to entirely customize the loot possibilities for every type of item and gear on your server. From how many ACOG gun sights will spawn to their spawn chance, and how often they’ll respawn after being picked up. Below, we will show you where your loot quantity file is and how to edit that to create a truly unique DayZ game server that’s friendly to all types of players!

    Changing DayZ Loot Quantity – Where to Start?

    To start, we’ll need to find your DayZ loot quantity types.xml file and start editing it to customize looting on your server. You can follow these instructions to find and start editing that file:

    1. To begin, head to your DayZ server webinterface
    2. Then, on the left-hand side under “Tools”, click “File Browser”.

    4. Inside your DayZ file browser, go to the location dayzstandalone ➜ mpmissions ➜ dayzOffline.chernarusplus ➜ db ➜ types.xml.

    6. You can now click to edit your “types.xml” file to start editing your server loot!

    After editing the types.xml file, you’ll discover thousands of lines of different items, gear, and more that you can customize. To be precise, there are over 20,000+ lines of options.

    Inside this file, we recommend using the keyword buttons “CTRL” + “F” to bring up a search and quickly find the items you’re looking to edit.

    You can now start editing each option for that particular DayZ loot. Below, you’ll learn about the different options you can edit for each item and gear!

    DayZ Gear & Item Customizations for Loot

    Option Description
    nominal Determines how many of that item can be on your DayZ map.
    lifetime Sets the lifetime that an item will remain spawned in once it appears in seconds.
    restock Modifies the amount of time before an item will respawn after being picked up.
    min Adjusts the minimum amount of an DayZ loot that will spawn on your DayZ server map.
    quantmin Dictates the minimum quantity a consumable will have upon spawning into the map. -1.0 is empty while 100.0 would mean they’ll always be full. This option affects ammo boxes, water in bottles, and more.
    quantmax Determines the maximum quantity a consumable will have upon spawning into the map. -1.0 is empty while 100.0 would mean they’ll always be full. This option affects ammo boxes, water in bottles, and more.
    cost Sets a spawn-priority weight (default 100) used only to break ties when several qualifying items compete for the same loot slot. To control how often an item spawns, adjust nominal, min, and restock instead.
    category name Allows you to set a category for the item that affects where it spawns and how it will spawn. Some options include Weapons, Tools, Containers, Clothes, and more.
    usage name Modifies the group in which area an item will spawn, including Farm, Industrial, Medic, Hunting, and more.
    value name Adjusts the value group of an item, affecting how and where the item will spawn on the map. Options include Tier1, Tier2, Tier3,  and more.

    Once you have finished adjusting the options for each of your DayZ items, press “Save changes” and restart your DayZ server for a whole new experience!
