AMD Ryzen series processors will be available starting March 2nd and offer a lot of processing power for under $500!
AMD is striking back at Intel with the new Ryzen series which will be available early March. A total of three different processors will be available at different price points: The Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X, and the 1700. Just like the specifications, the prices are also just speculation:
- Ryzen 7 1800X : 8 cores, 16 threads, 3.6 GHz (basis), 4.0 GHz (turbo), 95 watts, $ 499
- Ryzen 7 1700X : 8 cores, 16Threads, 3.4 GHz (basis), 3.8 GHz (turbo), 95 watts, $ 399
- Ryzen 7 1700 : 8 cores, 16 threads, 3.0 GHz (basis), 3.7 GHz (turbo), 65 watts, $ 329
With the new Ryzen architecture, AMD has added up to 52% more instructions compared to the Excavator architecture, exceeding their target of 40%. The following video from LinusTechTips provides some of the first impressions and a comparison to current Intel processors:
