How to Get Honeycomb in Minecraft

INTRODUCTION - HOW TO GET HONEYCOMB IN MINECRAFT

In the day of a Minecraft player, many unexpected journeys, mobs, and blocks of all varieties await during the quest to survive and build. Nearly everything in a Minecraft world can be customized using the blocks gathered to create unique homes, player areas, and more. While many Minecraft blocks appear naturally, other blocks are crafted by combining blocks and items in a crafting table. Honeycomb in Minecraft is one of those items that can be combined in a crafting table with other blocks to create some new and interesting blocks.

When Minecraft honeycomb is combined with certain supported blocks, it can create entirely new decorative blocks that all players can use from candles and beehive boxes to waxed copper blocks. The use of honeycomb on copper blocks also includes the benefit of preventing oxidation which causes copper to turn a teal green color. SHEARS - REQUIRED TO COLLECT HONEYCOMB

how to smelt iron ore to ingots Minecraft
To start the adventure towards gathering honeycomb, you’ll first need the correct tool to be able to collect that. Shears are the tool you’ll need and making your own set only takes two iron ingots. To find iron ingots search caves for iron ore and, using any pickaxe, collect those iron ingots. Take the iron ore you’ve collected and place it in a furnace with fuel to make iron ingots.

Once the iron ore is smelted and you have two iron ingots, open your Minecraft inventory and create the shears. With a trusty set of Minecraft shears in hand, the next step is finding a bee nest in your Minecraft world to harvest some honeycomb.

HONEYCOMB AND BEE NEST SPAWN LOCATIONS

Finding bee nests in a Minecraft world can be difficult due to their spawn rate. To give you the best odds of locating a bee nest, these are the biomes they’re commonly found in and the chances you’ll have of finding one:

Minecraft bee locations

  • Forests | Regular forests include Oak Forests, Birch Forests, Wooded Hills, and similar biomes. Playing Java Edition, there is a 0.2% chance of bee nests spawning. In Bedrock Edition, there is a 0.035% chance of them spawning.
  • Flower Forests | These forests are a unique type of forest in Minecraft filled with flowers. Due to the flowers, bee nests have a higher chance of spawning. On Java Edition, bee nests have a 2% chance. On Bedrock Edition, bee nests have a 3% chance to spawn per tree.
  • Plains & Sunflower Plains | Biomes unique to the bees, bee nests have the highest chance of spawning in these two biomes. Bee nests have a 5% chance of spawning in the Plains and Sunflower Plains biomes in Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.

GATHERING HONEYCOMB FROM BEE NESTS

Once you have found a bee nest, it will need to be full of honey before you can collect the honeycomb with your shears. This is what a bee nest will look like before and after it is filled with honey:

Grab your shears once the bee nest is filled with honey and right-click on that nest to collect the honeycomb. Honeycomb will come flying out along with some rather angry bees! It’s recommended that you leave the area temporarily to allow the bees to calm down. You can repeat this process to get as much honeycomb as you need!
