UC Irvine Opens First Ever E-Sports Arena at a Public University

Introducing a Varsity League of Legends Team

The campus at UC Irvine is getting ready to open their 3,500 sq. ft eSports arena on September 23rd. On the opening day, top-ranked players on the League of Legends team will be broadcasted to viewers, with an estimated 1,000+ people attending the grand opening.

The eSports Arena is powered by iBUYPOWER and is being constructed in the space occupied by the Zot Zone in the Student Center. This is an ideal location for the arena, as it resides in the heart of the campus and generates much foot traffic. Nearby is the food court and campus store.

The hub will not only be a huge attraction for Irvine residents, but for all gamers in the Southern California area as well. The arena will hold 80 powerful iBUYPOWER gaming PCs with access to the most current and popular video games.

Best of all, the arena will be open to all students, faculty members and the community, when it is not in use by the collegiate teams. Classrooms will also be utilizing the space for research projects and other related work. You may even find yourself in the arena when attending a local event that requires a large computer screen. It is safe to say we are all pretty excited for the opening of UC Irvine’s eSports Arena!
