How to Upload ARK: Survival Ascended Saves to Your Server (Steam PC)

When you’re ready to upload ARK save files to share the world with friends and other players on an ARK server, it’s important to understand the proper steps to upload these saves to your server. Here’s how you can do it:
 
Before you start, it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the guide that explains how to use FTP. This is a critical part of the process, so please read the guide above and download FileZilla to facilitate file transfers between your PC and your server. If you already know how to connect to your server via FTP, you can skip this step.
 
You will also need to obtain your OSS ID number to complete this process. Please follow the instructions in this guide on finding your ARK OSS ID. We strongly recommend always making a backup of your files in case anything goes wrong. Once you have your OSS ID number, continue with the following steps.

Accessing & Uploading Your ARK: Survival Ascended Saves (Steam PC)

1. In Steam, go to your game library, right-click on your ARK: Survival Ascended game, then select Properties → Installed Files, and then click on Browse.
2. Inside your ARK files, go to the location: /ShooterGame/Saved/SavedArksLocal.
   
3. In this location, you can enter the folder for the map files you wish to import. For example, we’ll be opening and importing TheIsland_WP save files.
   
4. We will use three files from this location: the .ark file, the .arkprofile file, and the .arktribe file.
   The .ark file contains your map save.
   The .arkprofile file contains your player data.
   The .arktribe file contains all tribe information.
5. Copy these files to another folder at a location of your choice and keep them handy.
   
6. Now, you’re going to use your OSS ID number that we obtained in the first part of this guide. Select the LocalPlayer.arkprofile file and change the first part of the file name to YourOSSidnumber.arkprofile, as shown in the screenshot below.
   
7. Go to your Nitrado web interface and stop your server.
8. Next, you will connect to your server via FTP. For this, you will need FileZilla, though you can also use WinSCP.
9. Once connected, navigate to /arksa/ShooterGame/Saved/SavedArks.
   
10. Inside this folder, click on TheIsland_WP, and to avoid conflicts, delete everything inside. (If you want to use these files again in the future, make a local backup beforehand.)
    
11. Once everything is deleted, copy the files mentioned in step number 4 into this folder. You can do this by using Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste, or simply by dragging and dropping the files.
    
12. Once you see that the files are in your server directory, you can return to your Nitrado web interface and start your server.
    
13. After restarting your server, give it some time to start properly; 5 minutes should be sufficient.
14. Connect to your server and enjoy!
