7 Days to Die – Sandbox Code Guide

7 Days to Die – Sandbox Code Guide

With the latest release of the 7 Days to Die v3.0 update, there have been major changes to the server configuration. For those wanting to remain using their settings, you will need to generate and use a Sandbox Code. This is done in singleplayer, then carried over to the server. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to create, use Sandbox Codes, and keep your existing settings.

⚠️ Before making changes to your 7 Days to Die server, we recommend making a backup. More information can be found here.

    Using Legacy Settings (Optional)

Let’s say you want to use your V2.6 settings in V3.0, you must recreate it using the new Sandbox options. You can review your older serverconfig.xml file to make notes of which settings you want to keep, then use them when generating a Sandbox Code in-game. The following steps will help you locate and view this file in your 7 Days to Die server.

    1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface for the 7 Days to Die server.
    2. Navigate to Settings > Config Files, then review the serverconfig.xml file.
      Nitrado Config Files
    3. Make note of your preferred settings, e.g. XP multipliers, speeds, loot, etc..

    4. Keep this open for later use when generating a Sandbox Code.

    Generating Sandbox Code

    1. Launch 7 Days to Die v3.0 on your PC via Steam.
    2. Create a New Game, then click Sandbox Options.

    3. Edit the settings until they match your preferences.
    4. When you’re finished, copy the Sandbox Code on the left.

Note: every minor or major change in the settings will generate a new code.

    Server Configuration

    1. Head back to your Nitrado Web Interface and stop the server.
    2. Navigate to Settings > General from the left on your Dashboard.
      Nitrado General Settings
    3. Locate the Sandbox Code Preset and change that to ‘Custom Sandbox Code’.

    4. Paste the code you copied in the Sandbox Code field.

    5. When you’re finished, click Save Changes at the bottom and start the server.

    Sandbox Presets

If you want to use presets, you can easily do that in your Web Interface. Choose from a wide range of unique presets, designed for specific playstyles and difficulties. This also includes the new ones from V3.0, which can be found below.

Select the one you want in the Sandbox Code Preset option when configuring your server.

    • Undead Matinee – A melee-focused vintage movie-inspired mode with slower zombies, swarming numbers & scarce ammo. Includes the new headshot finisher setting.
    • Madmole’s Mayhem – Fewer supplies, harsher penalties, including the new item loss and item durability loss on death, along with constant pressure. Madmole… It smells good!
    • Almost Creative Mode – The apocalypse, minus the actual apocalypse. Because Dying Is Inconvenient.
    • Bite Club – Respawning is for cowards in this hardcore, perma-death mode. One life left; use it wisely.
    • Legacy Survival – Old-school survival with modern consequences. Play like it’s 2014.
    • 7 Days Later – Modern movie-inspired with chaotic hordes of fast-moving zombies.
    • Caveman’s Life – Survive an apocalypse where tools peaked at sticks.
    • Dumpster Diver – Turning Garbage Into Greatness. It’s not hoarding if you use it.
    • Dying World – Resources are fading, and you’re not far behind.
    • Disaster Film – Catastrophes stack faster than you can fix them.
    • Chibi Mode – Not only are they cute… They’re fast, too! Good thing you have some speed of your own.

With your Sandbox Code configured properly, your server is ready for the latest challenges. Gather your supplies, rally your friends, and enjoy a perfectly tailored survival experience 🛠️
