HOW TO INSTALL A CUSTOM DAYZ MAP
Go on Steam and access the DayZ Steam Workshop.
In the Steam Workshop, search for and locate the map you’d like to install. We will be using the map “Iztek” as an example.
Make sure that you’re subscribed to that map and its required items if there are any.
In the description for that map, locate a GitHub repository of the map’s files. In the case of the Iztek map, you can find those files here.
On that GitHub, press “CODE” and then “Download Zip” to download those map files.
Extract that .zip file using a program such as 7Zip to a safe location on your PC:
After unzipping those files, enter the folders “IztekMissionFiles-main” and then “empty.Iztek”. In that folder, locate and unzip the areaflags.zip file.
Access your DayZ server FTP now and in that, go to the location /dayzstandalone/mpmissions/
Upload that custom map’s mission folder and files into this area just like this:
Open the DayZ game now and access the “MODS” section.
Press the down arrow next to any of those mods you installed, select “…”, and then press “Open folder to Windows Explorer” to access the DayZ workshop mod installations.
In your DayZ workshop mods list, locate the map mod and its requirements:
Upload these folders directly into the “dayzstandalone” folder on your server’s FTP.
Next, enter the map mod and its requirements folders on your computer and enter the “Keys” folder for each. Upload those keys from each folder into your server’s “keys” folder.
Once those are uploaded, go on your DayZ server panel, turn off your server, and to the left under “SETTINGS”, click “General” to access your DayZ server options.
In your server options, checkbox “Expert Mode” to ensure that enables.
Still in your “General” options, locate the “Additional mods” section and add each of your mods that you installed to your server’s FTP, separating each mod with a “;” and then press “Save changes”.
You can now press the “Expert Settings” option under “SETTINGS” to the left on your DayZ control panel.
In your “Expert Settings” edit the “serverDZ.cfg” file, find this section called “class Missions”, and for the “template=” setting, add your custom mission map folder’s name into this setting and then press “Save changes”.
Lastly, start your DayZ server and then proceed to join to try the custom DayZ map! If you join from the “COMMUNITY” tab on DayZ, you will also be able to automatically install any mods installed on your server:
