How to Play and Set Up a Minecraft Cobblemon Server

How to Play and Set Up a Minecraft Cobblemon Server

Minecraft players often look for ways to bring their monster-catching childhood memories into blocky worlds. Cobblemon fills this desire by adding open-world creature collection directly into vanilla survival mechanics. Unlike Pixelmon that imported smooth 3D models, Cobblemon is explicitly designed so that every Pokémon from Generations 1-9 fits seamlessly into Minecraft’s blocky aesthetic. Managing your own world allows you to control spawn rates, build custom stadiums, and journey alongside friends without restrictions. In this Nitrado guide, you will learn how to configure a server for this mod using either Fabric or NeoForge mod loaders.

Installing Cobblemon on Your Nitrado Server

Preparing your server requires matching the mod files on your personal computer with the server infrastructure. Cobblemon supports both Fabric and NeoForge as mod loaders, giving you flexibility based on your preference for optimization mods or broader modpacks. Stop your server before changing any files to prevent data corruption.

    1. Navigate to your server’s web interface and use the Switch Game feature to change your active game.
    2. Install your preferred server base for your mod loader. Choose either Minecraft: Otherpacks for a Fabric setup or Minecraft: Curse/FTB for a NeoForge setup. We highly recommend following our dedicated, step-by-step guides to properly configure your base Fabric server or NeoForge server before proceeding.
    3. Once your base mod loader is properly installed and the server has restarted once to generate system folders, stop your server again.
    4. Download the mod files from either CurseForge or Modrinth.
    5. Open your preferred FTP client or use the built-in web File Browser.
    6. Navigate to the mods folder in your primary directory and upload the Cobblemon mod file along with its required dependencies.
    7. Restart your server to load the mod assets. Ensure your local Minecraft launcher runs the exact same mod loader version to prevent handshake connection errors.

    Exploring the World of Cobblemon

The mod blends wild creatures directly into existing vanilla biomes. You will see flocks of Pidgey in plains and Geodude deep in mountain caves.

    Pick a Starter Pokémon

When you first log into your completed server, a selection overlay appears on your screen. This menu prompts you to choose your first partner from any generation. Your chosen companion spawns immediately at your side, ready to follow you across the terrain. Press the R key to send your partner out into the physical world or return them safely to their ball.

    Catch ‘Em All

Acquiring new team members requires craftable capsules made from ingots and apricorns. These plants grow naturally on small trees across the world. Lowering a wild creature’s health before throwing a capsule increases your success rate. You can initiate turn-based combat by throwing your active companion directly at a wild target. Battles utilize traditional type advantages, allowing strategic players to conquer tougher opponents using tactical type matchups.

Going Beyond With the Cobbleverse Modpack

If the base Cobblemon mod leaves you wanting more depth and progression, the community-created Cobbleverse modpack might be precisely what you are looking for. Built around Cobblemon, it completely transforms the experience by disabling vanilla mechanics like creepers and hunger to prioritize the monster-catching journey.

Cobbleverse introduces advanced battle mechanics, including Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves, Dynamaxing, and Terastallization. The world generation is expanded to include legendary structures, three new dimensions, and custom arenas for 1 to 7-star Raids. You can challenge iconic Gym Leaders from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh to earn badges and eventually face the Elite Four. With over 200 rideable Pokémon, custom music, and optimization mods built-in, it provides a comprehensive RPG adventure right out of the box.

    Become A True Pokémon Master

Building a communal world allows your community to share resources and open competitive arenas. Your server configuration provides the foundation for these shared multiplayer adventures. Take control of your network files, invite your friends, and build an unforgettable training ground.
