    How to Transfer Official ASA Saves in ARK: Survival Ascended


    You have spent countless hours taming dinos, building massive bases, and surviving the harsh environments of ARK: Survival Ascended. With the closure of specific official servers on December 15th, you don’t have to lose that progress. You can take your legacy with you.

     

    In this Nitrado guide, we will walk you through the process of taking your exported ASA Official Save Game files and uploading them to your own Nitrado Gameserver. This ensures you and your tribe can pick up right where you left off.

    How to Import Official ARK: Survival Ascended Save Games

    Preparing Your Save Files

    Before accessing your server, you need to prepare the files provided by Wildcard.

       

    1. Download the Save: Obtain your specific server save file from the links provided by Studio Wildcard.

      2.  

    2. Extract the Files: The download will likely be a .zip archive. Extract these files to a folder on your computer.

      3.  

    3. Identify the Files: You are looking for the main world file (ending in .ark) and likely a folder containing tribe and player data (.arkprofile, .arktribe).

    Pro Tip: Keep a backup copy of these extracted files on your local PC in a separate folder. If an upload fails or a file gets corrupted, you will be glad to have a fresh copy ready to go.

    Uploading Your Save Game to Your Server

    Once your files are ready, you need to place them into the correct directory on your server.

       

    1. Stop your server in your Nitrado web interface.

      2.  

    2. On the left-hand sidebar, navigate to Tools > File Browser.

    3. Click through arksa > ShooterGame > Saved > SavedArks.

    4. Inside SavedArks, you will see a folder named after your map (e.g., TheIsland_WP or ScorchedEarth_WP). Open this folder.

    5. Upload the Files:

            

      • Delete the existing .ark file inside this folder (this is the default fresh world).

        •     

      • Upload your official .ark save file here.

        •     

      • Upload your .arkprofile and .arktribe files (or the folder containing them) into this same directory.

        •    

    Activating the World

    Your server needs to know exactly which file to load. Official save files often have complex names (like OfficialServer1234.ark), but your server is configured to look for the standard map name.

       

    1. Rename the .ark File: Find the official save file you just uploaded. Right-click it (or use the rename tool) and rename it to the default map name.

           

      • (e.g.: For The Island: TheIsland_WP.ark)

        •

    2. Verify Tribe Data: Ensure your tribe and profile data is sitting in the same directory as the .ark file so the game can link players to their characters.

      3.  

    3. Restart the Server: Go back to your dashboard and hit restart your server.

    Troubleshooting & Support

    If your server does not load the save correctly, or if you spawn in to create a new character instead of loading your existing one, double-check the following:

       

    • File Naming: Did you rename the .ark file exactly as required (case sensitive)?

      •  

    • File Path: Are the files inside the _WP folder, or just sitting in the SavedArks folder? They must be in the map-specific folder.
