How To Use Your Server’s Database

How To Use Your Server’s Database

For those that require a MySQL database to run their server, Nitrado offers it as a feature! It’s easily accessible and supports many different games. Whether you’re using it for player data or simply connecting it to a plugin, we got you covered. There are other uses for it too, such as syncing ban lists across servers or optimizing performance. With this in mind, we’ve created this guide to show you how to access and use your game server’s database 👏

How to Access Your MySQL Database

In your main Dashboard, you can find your MySQL Credentials, which is what you need to access the database. It’s also the area where you can copy login details and paste them into configuration files for use, such as Minecraft plugins. Here’s how can you find that and access the database:

    1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface Dashboard.
    2. Scroll down, and locate the MySQL Credentials area.

You can view all the details of your database here.
    3. Click phpMyAdmin at the top to access it.

    4. From here, you can see databases and everything else.

⚠️ SSL is not being used. This does not impact the security of your server data.

What You Can Do with Your Database

    • Stop Server Lag: Large text files slow down your server as more players join. Storing player money, claims, or stats in MySQL keeps your game running smoothly.
    • Protect Player Progress: Text files can corrupt and wipe progress if your server crashes unexpectedly. A database safely saves player data line-by-line to prevent lost inventory or stats.
    • Share Data Across Multiple Servers: If you run a network or map cluster, connecting them to one database lets player ranks, balances, and stats follow players from server to server.
    • Sync Ban Lists and Ranks: Keep your admin permissions and ban lists in one central spot so a banned player is automatically blocked across all your server maps.
    • Make Quick Mass Edits: Instead of opening and editing hundreds of individual player files one by one, you can clear old data or reset currency across your entire community all at once.

For advanced configurations and setups, we strongly recommend researching online about phpMyAdmin & MySQL. If you have any questions about your game server database, contact our Support Team for assistance.
