    '83 RCON Server Setup Guide

    ’83 RCON Server Setup Guide

Managing your ‘83 server effectively typically requires a Remote Console (RCON). This allows you to execute commands, including banning players, changing maps, switching teams, and more. Setting up your own RCON server can be challenging for some users, as it involves third-party tools. With this in mind, we’ve created this Nitrado guide to show you how to set up and connect to RCON for your ‘83 server to begin using commands!

How to Set Up RCON for Your ‘83 Server

    1. Navigate to Settings > General from your Nitrado Web Interface.
      83 Server Settings
    2. Locate RCON Password and enter your password in the text box.

    3. Near the bottom, click Save Changes and restart the ‘83 server.
    4. From the Dashboard, scroll down and locate the RCON Port.
      83 Server RCON Port
    5. Copy or save this port for later use (e.g. 10005), along with your Server IP.

    Connecting to Your RCON Server

Now that you have your ‘83 server prepared, it’s time to connect. Use our recommended client to do that, known as rcon-cli available via GitHub. The RCON system for the game is built upon an Unreal Engine plugin, which you can learn more about here. Make sure to have your ‘83 Server IP and RCON Port in notepad or copied, along with your RCON Password.

Inside of your RCON client, execute the following command to connect:
rcon -a [Server IP]:[RCON Port] -p [RCON Password]

Replace the brackets with your information, accordingly. The command should look like this:
    rcon -a 5.83.173.248:10005 -p MyPassword123

If successful, you should be connected to your ‘83 RCON Server! 👏

    Supported RCON Commands

Once connected, you can use a variety of commands to maintain order and customize the gameplay experience. Below are the primary commands available for server administration:

    Command Arguments Description

listPlayers None Lists all players and their unique IDs.
kickPlayer playerId, reason Kicks and bans a player by their ID with a specified reason.

    Command the Frontlines

Once RCON is set up on your ’83 server, you gain real-time control over your server without needing to be in-game. Whether you’re managing players, switching maps, or organizing teams, this streamlines your admin workflow. By keeping your credentials secure and staying familiar with essential commands, you can quickly respond to situations. This helps you create a fantastic multiplayer experience for everyone on your ‘83 server!
