Mods Not Working on ARK: Survival Evolved Server

Mods Not Working on ARK – Introduction

Experiencing problems with server mods not working properly can result in frustration for you and the ARK adventurers on your server. Adding mods to your server should never be a problem and when they don’t load correctly, it’s vital to resolve the issue so that you and your friends can enjoy the enhanced experience mods offer for ARK!

No matter why a particular mod isn’t working, whether it be due to the mod being outdated, a compatibility issue, or a setting resulting in mods not working, you are able to fix this so that the ARK server mods will work properly for you and your friends. Join us and together we’ll uncover why your ARK server mods are not working on your ARK: Survival Evolved server and how to get them working!

Reasons Your Ark Server Mods Are Not Working

Settings Causing An Issue With Ark Mods

By default when you first start an ARK: Survival Evolved server, the crossplay option is enabled to allow your server to support both Steam and EpicGames players. When using crossplay to support EpicGames, unfortunately, that launcher does not currently support the use of mods and due to this, when crossplay is enabled it will disable the ability to use mods on your server. Due to this, it is ideal to disable the crossplay setting to ensure you can fully use mods on your server. We will show you exactly how to disable crossplay for your server!

Disabling Crossplay To Enable Using Mods

      1. Enter your ARK: Survival Evolved control panel.
      2. To the left of your panel, under “SETTINGS” press on the “General” option.

      1. In your General settings under “Base settings”, locate the option “Allow platforms”.

      1. Use the dropdown of this setting and set that to “Allow only Steam players”, which will display crossplay and will allow the mods to then work on your server.

    1. After selecting that option, press the “Save changes” button to save those adjustments.
    2. Lastly, exit back to your server’s control panel and restart the server.

Once your server has been restarted once, you will now be able to use and activate mods on your ARK: SE server!

    Outdated Ark: Survival Evolved Mods

When using mods on your ARK server, it can be very important that those mods are up-to-date with the latest versions of ARK: Survival Evolved. Otherwise, you can experience issues with the mods and that includes the mods not working. Below, we will learn more about how you can find when a mod was last updated to determine if that mod is outdated.

      1. Determine which ARK mod(s) on your server are not working. You will need the name of those mods as we will need to search and find those on the Steam Workshop to check the last updated dates.
      2. Once you have the name, start the Steam program on your computer.
      3. At the top of Steam, click the “LIBRARY” option and then locate “ARK: Survival Evolved” in your game list.
      4. After selecting ARK, press the “Workshop” option for that game to access the ARK: Survival Evolved Steam Workshop.

      1. A list of mods will appear with names similar to what you are searching for. Click on the mod you’re wanting to use. This will take you to that mod’s page so that you can view information including when the mod was last updated.

      1. On that mod’s workshop page, to the right of the images locate the “Updated” section to see when that particular mod was last updated.

If the mod is outdated by several months or more, this can often be an indication that the mod is outdated. In certain cases, outdated mods can still work properly and testing trying those mods will let you know if they work or not. When a mod is outdated and isn’t working, the best solution is to remove that mod and replace it with a different mod that is updated. This will ensure you can still enjoy a modified epic ARK adventure!

Ark:se Mods May Have Compatibility Issues

With the amazing changes that ARK: Survival Evolved mods offer, having mods that perform similar actions can often result in those mods conflicting and experiencing compatibility issues. Mod authors are great at being proactive about informing users about conflicts and so it’s important to check a mod’s workshop page to see if there are any conflicts. We will explore how to check that description for mod confliction warnings!

      1. Find which ARK:SE mods are not working.
      2. Open the Steam program on your PC.
      3. Right at the top of Steam, select the “LIBRARY” option and then pick the “ARK: Survival Evolved” game.
      4. After selecting the game, press the “Workshop” option for that game.

      1. Upon searching, find the particular mod you’re looking to perform that check for. In our example, we will be using Classic Flyers.

      1. After selecting that mod, scroll down to the “Description” section of that mod’s workshop page and read over that. If you see any keywords such as “incompatible” or “conflicts with”, those are the sections that will inform you about conflictions that can occur. With Classic Flyers as our example, this mod experiences incompatibility with any other mods that also affect flyer creators or their eggs.

If there are mod conflicts, you can now go back through your server mod manager to remove those mods. If you’re unsure which mods to remove, we recommend checking the descriptions and mod pages for each mod to learn more about them. You will then know exactly what needs to be removed or replaced to allow your ARK server mods to load and work.
