Terraria Server Commands for TShock Admins
Your Terraria server needs someone at the console when a griefer shows up, an event needs forcing, or a player forgets where their bed is. TShock, the admin mod for Terraria servers, adds a full set of tools for exactly these moments: muting a rule-breaker, forcing an event, summoning a boss on demand.
This guide covers TShock’s Terraria server commands, verified against TShock 6.1.0 for Terraria 1.4.5.6. If your world runs Vanilla Terraria without TShock installed, none of these commands work. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you the full command list, grouped by what each one does, so you can find what you need.
Opening the Chat
Press Enter to open the chat box in Terraria. From there, you can type a message to other players or type a command starting with a forward slash. Chat messages, including responses from the commands below, appear near the lower left corner of the screen.
Admin Access and Registration
Every command in this guide only works once you’re logged in as an admin. If you haven’t set that up on your server yet, follow Becoming Admin In Terraria first, then come back here for the full command reference.
TShock also ties permissions to a registered player account. New players type /register to create an account under their current character name, then /login on later visits to confirm who they are before the server applies any permissions an admin has granted.

Player Accounts and Access
These commands handle player accounts and who’s allowed on the server.

Moderation
Use these to handle rule-breakers without kicking everyone off the server.

Bans a specific item on the server, preventing players from using or picking it up. |
Teleportation
Move yourself or another player around the world instantly.

World Events
Force in-game events on demand instead of waiting for them to happen naturally.

Forces a full moon on the server. |

Drops a meteor onto the world. |

Starts an invasion event on the server. |

Turns the game’s Christmas-themed content on or off. |

Turns rain on or off on the server. |
/grow |
Makes nearby plants and trees grow. |
Items and Spawning
Give players items, or bring creatures and bosses into the world directly.

Server Control
Keep the server itself running and configured correctly.

Note: TShock doesn’t have a restart command. To restart your Terraria server, use the Restart control in your Nitrado Web Interface instead.
Combat and Self
Affect your own character, or another player, directly.

/butcher |
Kills every NPC (bot) currently on the server. |
/heal |
Fully heals you. |
/godmode |
Regenerates any damage you take. A single hit that would otherwise be fatal can still kill you outright. |
/kill <player> |
Kills the specified player. |
/slap <player> |
Hits the specified player. |
Fun and Social
Commands built for messing around and communicating with players.

Why Isn’t My /give Command Working?
Check the order of the parameters first: the item name or ID comes before the player name, then the quantity, for example /give torch XYZ 1. If you’re using an item name and it isn’t recognized, check the item list linked above for the exact spelling, or use the numeric item ID instead.
