This usually happens when a setting is pushed beyond its limits. Some values in ARK can’t be set too high or low without causing issues. Always take note of changes before saving. If your server fails to boot, revert the latest adjustments to restore stability.
Not all settings are present by default in the GameUserSettings.ini or Game.ini. You can use the Nitrado Web Interface to view additional settings. If it’s still missing, you can manually add the setting directly into the appropriate file under the correct section.
This can occur if a value goes beyond what the game can handle. When a setting breaks, ARK will silently fall back to the default value. Try lowering or simplifying the value, save again, restart the server, and test the result. This may require a few adjustments to find what works best.
Difficulty is controlled with two settings in GameUserSettings.ini:
For example, to get level 150 creatures, use DifficultyOffset=1.0 and OverrideOfficialDifficulty=5.0.
These values can be edited in the Web Interface or added manually in GameUserSettings.ini under [ServerSettings]. Examples include:
Adjust these to fit your server’s desired pace and style.
Use LevelExperienceRampOverrides= in the Game.ini file. This lets you define XP per level and expand the level cap. Add OverrideMaxExperiencePointsPlayer= or OverrideMaxExperiencePointsDino= accordingly to ensure the new levels work.
Yes, by adding multiple lines of OverridePlayerLevelEngramPoints=X in Game.ini. One line per level, placed after your level experience ramp section. You can customize how many engram points are rewarded at each level-up.
In GameUserSettings.ini, set ServerPVE=True under [ServerSettings]. This disables PvP and allows a more cooperative survival experience.
