DayZ Launcher – How to Join a DayZ Server

When playing DayZ together, whether you’re joining your own server or an existing server, DayZ servers feature tools to easily find and join your server to start your survival adventure. In this tutorial, we will show you how you can locate and join your DayZ server with the DayZ launcher and server browser so that you can gear up and prepare to fight the undead hoards!

HOW TO JOIN A DAYZ SERVER WITH DAYZ LAUNCHER SERVER BROWSER

• Open Steam and start the DayZ game.
• The DayZ launcher will appear and on the main menu, click “SERVERS”.

• In the DayZ launcher, click the “COMMUNITY” tab in order to search for and find you or your friends’ DayZ server.

• In the “COMMUNITY” tab, click “Filters” and you can search servers by specific server filters including the server name, IP address, map, BattleEye support, and more.
• Once you have found the correct server to join, press the “JOIN” option next to that server.

If that server requires specific mods or DLC, the launcher will provide you with the option to instantly setup those DLC and mods so you can join. Press the “SETUP DLCS AND MODS AND JOIN” option to continue.

• The game will require a restart and once done, you will begin connecting!
• You will instantly start connecting to that DayZ server to begin surviving!

USING DAYZ LAUNCHER TO JOIN A DAYZ SERVER

To easily join servers, the DayZ game community created another powerful DayZ launcher software that allows you to easily search for, find, and join your DayZ server with friends. We will show you how to download and use the DayZ launcher!

• To begin, you or your friends will need a DayZ game server that is currently online.
• Next, download the DayZ launcher program for the standalone DayZ game.
• Upon clicking download, a program called “setup_dzsalauncher.exe” will download. Click that file and proceed through the instructions to install the DayZ launcher.

• Run the DayZ launcher program and once loaded, you will see a “Servers” and a “Mods” section. The “Mods” section will allow you to manage mods you’ve subscribed to on Steam. In this particular guide, we will be focusing on the “Servers” section.
• In the “Servers” section, using the “Filters” on the left side you can look up specific server names, maps, server versions, and various tags including if you’ve played on them, favorite servers, and more.
• Searching for “Nitrado”, we can find many fantastic DayZ servers to join!

• Once you have found your or your friends’ server to join, press the play button next to that and click “Join the server and play” to start connecting to that DayZ server.
• If the server requires mods and your DayZ game does not yet have them installed, the DayZ launcher will offer to fix this and install them for you. Click “OK” to continue with the mod installations. Mod installations can take some time to install depending on the number of mods and your internet speed.

DayZ launcher will load DayZ and instantly connect you to that server so that you can start playing!

UNABLE TO JOIN DAYZ SERVER FAQ

“Bad version, server rejected connection” when joining DayZ server

If you see this error, this means that either your game or the server itself is outdated. If you see this error, check your game and server version to ensure they are on the same version. We will show you how to check the game version and server version, and perform updates if needed!

CHECKING AND UPDATING YOUR DAYZ GAME VERSION

Check your Steam downloads section. If DayZ requires an update, that will appear in your Steam downloads and you can press the download button to get that latest update and version!

FINDING YOUR DAYZ SERVER VERSION AND UPDATING

Your DayZ server will typically receive updates around 3 hours after a DayZ version is released. To receive this update simply restart your DayZ server and upon starting up, that update will download!

Can’t join DayZ server – error “DayZ connect failed”

Unable to connect with this error? This DayZ connection error can occur for a variety of reasons including a server issue, version issue, network issue, or there may be an issue with the DayZ game installation. To help with this, we recommend:

• Check to ensure the game and server are up-to-date by following the steps above.
• Make sure that the DayZ server is fully online and running.

• Verify your DayZ game installation on Steam to ensure the files are proper.
• Open Steam and enter your game library.
• Locate DayZ, right-click, and select “Properties…”.
• In the DayZ options, press “LOCAL FILES” and click “Verify integrity of game files…” to begin verifying the game files.

• After some time, the verification will complete and you can now try connecting!
• If all else fails, this may be an issue with your network. We recommend restarting your router first by unplugging it for 60 seconds and then plugging it back in. If that doesn’t help, we advise contacting your internet service provider to do further troubleshooting.
