Rent your own prepaid DayZ server for PC, PS4 or Xbox today at Nitrado.net

    Where to start

Here you will learn how to edit the XML files for your DayZ server, let’s get started.

    First, a couple important notes:

    • Be sure your server is stopped before editing files.
      • We suggest stopping the server for 3-5 minutes before making changes.
    • Save your changes, then start the server.

    Filebrowser

The server settings can be changed within the filebrowser of your web interface:

    • Navigate to your Nitrado Web Interface
    • Now from the dashboard, on the left-hand side, go to Tools > Filebrowser and you will see the server settings.
    • You will need to open the following folders: dayzps_missions > dayzOffline.chernarusplus
      • If you are playing on Livonia, you will need to enter the “dayzOffline.enoch” folder.
    • Now you are where the files can be edited:

    FTP

The XML files on your server can also be edited manually via FTP. Changes can then be made locally through a text editor.

Take a look at our helpful wiki page on how to use your FTP:

    File Definitions

But wait! What does each file do? Below, we have a list of the XML file types and what they do on the server.

    File Description
cfgEconomyCore.xml used to configure classes included in the central economy, persistence backups, infected dynamic zones, CE logging and updaters.
cfgenvironment.xml Configuration of the animal herd and their territories.
cfgeventspawns.xml Used to define positions (and rotation) for certain types of dynamic events (helicrashes, car spawns,..).
cfglimitsdefinition.xml Contains a definition for tag and category limiters.
cfglimitsdefinitionuser.xml User definitions for the limiters, defined in cfglimitsdefinition.xml. Usually allows a simpler definitions such as Tier234 and so on (to save space in db ypes.xml file).
cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml Contains base positions for the player spawn point generation (only for the multiplayer mission). Resulting binary file will be generated into the storage folder during first new-player connection.
cfgrandompresets.xml Definitions of presets for random cargo or attachment spawning. Used in cfgspawnabletypes.xml.
cfgspawnabletypes.xml Used to define random contents of cargo (inventory) or random attachments for selected spawnable types (defined in db ypes.xml).
mapclusterproto.xml Prototypes for cluster-type map groups (fruit trees, objects that spawn mushrooms,..). Each prototype contains containers with spawn-points for loot.
