    Stats

To see your stats, open your character menu. This can be set to a key combination or selected through the Esc menu.

How Can I See the Percentage of Hunger and Thirst?

You will see a stomach, a drop of water, and a foot icon. Hover your mouse over them to see the percentages.

    Resistance

The foot icon represents your resistance. It appears in the lower-right corner when you run, and depletes while running or jumping. It refills when you stop. Recharge speed varies based on whether you are sitting, walking, or standing still. If you crouch, the icon will rotate, and two small arrows will appear, indicating ambush speed (for carnivores only). Ambush speed is faster if you stay crouched. Carnos, however, do not have ambush speed.

    Water

The drop of water icon represents your hydration. This can be replenished by drinking water.

    Hunger

The stomach icon represents your hunger. This can be filled by eating dogwoods or corpses.

    Oxygen Meter

A small oxygen meter appears if you swim for too long and your stamina runs out. Once it depletes, you will start taking drowning damage.

    Growth

Pressing Esc will reveal your growth progress. It is usually displayed as something like 0.2/0.6. Once you reach the number on the right (e.g., 0.6), you must manually click the growth button to grow. You can also see your growth in the character menu.

    Smell

The smell ability can be bound to a key combination that you must hold to activate. If you activate it while standing still, the animation will be longer, so it’s better to do it while walking. When activated, footprints will glow yellow, water sources will glow blue, and blood piles will glow bright red. Herbivorous plants will glow green and emit smoke, similar to blood piles for carnivores. At the top of your screen, there is a compass, but it won’t work in the rain.

You leave fewer or more footprints depending on how you move:

    • Crouched: 10% of the time
    • Walking: 15% of the time
    • Trotting: 30% of the time
    • Running: 70% of the time

The smaller you are, the fewer footprints you will leave.

    Night Vision

At night, it gets very dark. You will need to turn on your night vision using the default key, N. Night vision creates a small area of light around your character that only you can see. Some dinosaurs have poor night vision, so if you’re a herbivore, it’s a good idea to find shelter.

    Nesting

If you’re new, the concept of nesting might be a bit confusing. As an adult female dinosaur, you can create a nest. If you sit on it long enough, eggs will appear inside. You can check their status by pressing E in front of the nest and accessing the nest interface. You can invite friends (or anyone), and if they accept, they will appear as a newborn version of your dinosaur with similar skin. Hatchlings are slower, have lower stats than juveniles, and are generally less capable.

Hatchlings can eat from the nest if you place food in it, which is taken from your own hunger supply. Juveniles, however, cannot eat from the nest. If you’re low on food, you may want to delay the growth of your hatchlings to juveniles.
