Gaming together with friends often brings the ultimate experiences, from taming wild dinosaurs and riding across the world to building multi-story mega factories, and even battling zombies for survival. To accomplish these epic adventures, you’ll need your own server and the know-how to edit it to perfection for you and your friends. At Nitrado, we strive to provide the best explorations on a server with over 70+ games to choose from. Below, we’ll cover how you can get started with a server and everything you need to know to customize your server and begin your glorious journey with others!

How to Start and Access Your Server

When you enter the game server hosting universe of Nitrado to begin your own adventures, the first thing you’ll need to do is register or log in if you already have an account with us. You’ll find the login option at the top right of the homepage. After pressing that, enter your username and password or press “Register” to begin creating your account.

    How to Access Your Server

To start your game on your new Nitrado server, you’ll need to search for it within your Nitrado services. Once you’re in this area, you’ll be able to locate your server and press the web interface option to start and customize it. We’ll cover the steps on how you can do that!:

    1. First, go to “My Services” in the menu that appears when you click on your username.
      my servises option

    2. You’ll find all the servers you have rented on your account. Just click the yellow button “Web Interface”, and a new page with the web interface will open.

    3. On the left side, you will find information about your server, including its IP address.
      important server information

You can now go to the server search in your game and enter the IP of your server to find and connect to it!

Getting to Know the Web Interface of Your Server

With access to your web interface, you can now start customizing your server to perfection! You can see the status of your server, stop it, add mods, get information such as the IP, and more. We’ll outline each of these below!

    Start/Stop the Server

One of the main reasons to use the web interface is to stop or start your server, as this is an important step when making any changes to its configuration. You will find this option in the top right corner; just click on it to stop, start, and restart your server at any time.

    Game Settings

Next, you can configure certain in-game features, such as day and night duration, the amount of XP you gain from defeating enemies, or how much damage you can take. You will find these editable features in the following section:

    1. On the right side, in the “Settings” section, click on “General.”
      setting section

    2. This will open the section where you will find all the changes and customizations you can make to your server. These are divided into sections like Player, Gameplay, Server Settings, among others. These sections vary from game to game.

Server Mods (CurseForge | ARK: SE and ARK: SA Only)

Now that you know the general settings of your server, you can customize your game. If you want to go even further and install mods, you can do so using FTP credentials, or if your server is for ARK, through the Mods section of Curseforge in the Settings section.

Here you can quickly and easily search for and add mods or modpacks to your ARK server. If you want to learn the process in-depth, you can visit our guide.

    FTP Credentials

FTP credentials are the key that will allow you to access your server’s files through an external program. This will allow you to change game files directly on the server or create backups on your PC so you don’t lose your game progress.

    1. To obtain your credentials, on the left side under “INFORMATION”, click “Dashboard”.
      information menu

    2. In your dashboard, scroll down until you find the section that says “FTP Credentials”. This is where you can find the features, from deciding who can access it to completely changing the game. All of this is included with your server. The most notable features are as follows:
      ftp credentials

If you want to learn more about all the uses of FTP credentials, you can check out our guide here .

Upgrading, Downgrading, and Modifying Your Server

In this section, we’ll refer to the options and ability to change the number of slots (players) on your server, how much RAM it has, or its active time.

The quickest way to access each of these sections is to go to “My Services” and click on the small arrow at the bottom of your server’s box.

small arrow in the server display

This will display a menu with all the options to configure your server. For example, you can press “Extend” to extend the runtime of your server.

Slots, Location, RAM, and Rental Time

By clicking on the “Change Slots and Location” option, you can access the following features of our server from one place:

    • Hosting Location: This will be the first option you’ll find. By clicking on “Change Location,” you will have access to all the physical locations of our servers, giving you the opportunity to choose the nearest location.

    • Slots/Players: The next section you’ll find is Slots or Players. This indicates the server’s capacity to host players. Some games, like ARK: Survival Ascended, have a minimum number of players, so you can only increase the player count from that number.

    • Prepayment: Here, you can change the runtime for how long you will be renting your server. We will talk more in-depth about this feature later.

Lastly, you just need to save the changes, accept, and pay to process that upgrade or downgrade.

    Subscription Management

In the same menu of your server, you will find the “Manage Automatic Extension” option. Here, unlike the small previous section, you will find the option to enable or disable the automatic extension of your server. You can also change the payment method for the extension of the service.

    Payment option dropdown menu

    run time of the server

Once you have changed the payment method, a dropdown menu will appear with the time/cost options for which you can automatically rent your server. Once you determine the time for which you will rent your server, just confirm the payment information, and you’re done! You have now configured the automatic extension of your server.

    Game Change

Your server is not exclusive to the game you rented it for; you have the option to change games at any time. You can choose from over 70 games we have in our library. To do this, go back to the dropdown menu and select the “Change Game” option.

    switch game option

Another way to access this feature is in the web interface of your server. This option is located at the bottom left as “SWITCH GAME”. Clicking on it will take you to another page where you can search for the game you want to switch to. The first game that appears is the one currently installed on your server; it also shows the game’s status and options like reinstalling or uninstalling it.

Once you find the game you want to install, just click “Install,” and the installation will begin.

    Server Access Management

In the same dropdown menu, you will find the “Change Guest Rights” option. This small section will give another Nitrado user access to make changes to your server. You will find a space where you can enter the username of the person you want to give access to for your server. It is very important that this person is someone you completely trust, as with this access, they could reset your server entirely, losing all progress.

Microsoft App for Changes on the Go

The Nitrado Microsoft app is an incredible tool that will help you manage and obtain important information about your server from anywhere, at any time. With the new update, you will be able to quickly access the main aspects of your servers without any problem.

    Donations & Xbox Server Boosts

Xbox and Xbox crossplay servers have two notable features: donations and server boosts. These options are excellent when you have community servers, as they allow collaboration from multiple members in supporting the server. Here’s a brief overview of each option and how they differ.

    Donations

Donations are a simple way to add credit to an account that isn’t yours. It’s important to note that due to security and fraud protection measures, donations cannot be made with credits; you’ll have to use another payment method for them. You can check our complete guide on how to make donations by clicking here .

    Server Boost

Since you cannot directly increase the rental time of servers rented through the Microsoft Store, you have the option to boost them and extend the rental time. This is a relatively simple process, but you will need to follow some steps. If you want to know the process in detail, you can visit our guide .
