While exploring ARK: Survival Evolved, players develop their character and survive against the threats of the ARKs. From deadly corruption to harsh terrains, and wild dinosaurs like the dreaded Tyrannosaurus Rex. At the beginning of the game, limited resources slow down player progress but later on while playing, better technology and skills can greatly improve progress speed. Gas is one of those technologies that is used during the later game, offering players the ability to fuel powerful machines to handle any tasks.

The fuel gas is used for many types of machines including fabricators, electrical generators, forges, cookers, and more. While there are other types of fuel available, gas is great for the length of time it fuels machines. Additionally, fuel can be made in bulk allowing you to easily run your machines once you make gas in ARK. In this guide, we will show you how to make gas in ARK so that you can upgrade and grow your ARK server to the next level!

Now that you know which machines use gas, it’s time to make gas in ARK! To make gasoline, you will need a refining furnace or an industrial forge. The industrial forge has the advantage that you can produce up to 100x units of gasoline at the same time. To make a refining furnace or an industrial forge, you can follow these recipes:
To create gas in ARK using these machines, you’ll then need the following materials which will create 5 units of gas in ARK:
You also need fuel and for this, you can use straw, wood, ignition powder, or angler gel. It is important to note that different fuels burn for different lengths of time. Here is a detailed list of the fuels you can use and how long they’ll last!

When the fuel is in the furnace, add the 6 oil and 5 leather into the furnace. In our example, we will be using wood as our fuel. After about 30 seconds, you will get 5 Gasoline which will appear inside the Furnace or Forge you’re using.
If you are playing ARK Aberration, you can also make gasoline using gas in the Chemistry Bench. To get a Chemistry Bench, you’ll need to learn the Gas Collector Engram and then collect 20x Congealed Gas Balls and 20x Green Gem/Fragmented Green Gem. Congealed Gas Balls can be gathered by using a Gas Collector on a Gas Vein on the Aberration DLC map. Green Gems can be mined using a pick on the various green crystal formations that appear throughout the ARK Aberration map. Once you have 20 of both, place them in the Chemistry Bench and you’ll get gas!
Do you need help finding the materials to make gas? To make it easier to find those materials, we’ll give you a few tips on where to find the raw materials to make gasoline.
Just starting? Since gas and oil are seen as later-game materials, if you’re just starting you can use alternative fuels like wood and coal to power your machines. Once you progress far enough in ARK, you can then get the proper materials to make gas in ARK!
As you already know, gasoline is used as fuel. Depending on where you use gasoline, it has a different burning time. This indicates how long it takes to use 1x gasoline. Since you can use gasoline in many ways, we have compiled a table for you. Here you can find the buildings that you can use with gasoline, as well as the burning time.
| Structure | Burn Time (1x Gas) | Burn Time (100x Gas) |
|---|---|---|
| Chemistry Bench | 15 minutes | 1 day 1 hour |
| Eletrical Generator | 1 hour | 4 days 4 hours |
| Fabricator | 15 minutes | 1 day 1 hour |
| Industrial Cooker | 15 minutes | 1 day 1 hour |
| Industrial Forge | 15 minutes | 1 day 1 hour |
| Industrial Grill | 20 minutes | 1 day 9 hours 20 minutes |
| Industrial Grinder | 15 minutes | 1 day 1 hour |
To make the most out of ARK: Survival Evolved, gasoline is a must-have resource. The advantage of gas improves the production of all of the machines on your server. While gas is a later-game resource to make, it’ll provide endless benefits to you and your players. Crafting gasoline only takes two materials and will change your server forever. Now that you know how to make gas in ARK, join your server, invite your friends, and explore the power of gas on your ARK game server!
