How To Manage and Restore Nitrado Server Backups

How to Manage and Restore Nitrado Server Backups – Introduction

Game server backups are a crucial tool for safeguarding your progress and configurations, especially when testing new changes. This functionality serves as protection against file corruption, allowing you to recover data and settings at the time of its generation. In other words, they enable you to revert to a certain point before an issue occurred. You’ll find this is useful when experimenting with game settings, particularly when they negatively impact gameplay. Join us in this guide as we cover how you can manage and restore backups on your own Nitrado game server!

How Does Nitrado’s Backup System Work?

Here, we’ll explain important information to consider when dealing with backups:

    • Backups are automatically generated by the server with an estimated interval of 24 hours.
    • Currently, there is no manual backup creation method, except for Minecraft.
    • Use of FTP as backups. This format will allow you to download the information from your server to your computer. Only exceptions are games that don’t have FTP, such as Chivalry 2.
    • Ideally, the server should generate one backup per day – but contact support if this doesn’t go as planned.
    • The number of accessible backups ranges from 3 to 10, depending on the game and backup size.
    • Backup timestamps follow the timezone of Frankfurt, Germany (UTC/GMT+1).
    • Some games, like Ark, have extra backups generated by the game itself. These backups only restore progress information.
    • Ark Mobile is limited to restoring one backup per day.
    • For optimal backup management, it’s recommended to stop the server before any restoration.
    • Games with specific backup interval times typically have options in the “Base settings” or “Advanced” section of their web interface.

    Locating Backups

Next, we’ll outline step-by-step where to find server backups from the specific service’s web interface.

    1. On the left side in the Tools section, find Restore Backup.

    2. Clicking it reveals two sections: server backup and database backup; focus on the server backup. Here, you can find the backups generated by the server and access them. It displays the backup date and generation order since server opening.

By following the simple steps explained above you can keep your server information safe and secure. This ensures your data is protected, such as your game or specific configurations of your server.
