How To Upload Palworld Save Games

How To Upload Palworld Save Games

Transferring your local saved game to your Palworld server can be a bit of a headache, as there are a lot of moving parts. This process involves you locating the files, converting player and level data, then uploading the entire save folder. On top of that, you also need to do a quick adjustment to the server settings. Due to all of that, we’ve created this Nitrado guide to show you how to upload local saved games in your Palworld server 👏

    Existing Saves with Palworld 1.0

Palworld save games remain compatible with version 1.0, so you can continue playing with your existing world if you prefer. However, because the 1.0 update significantly overhauls core game mechanics, Pocketpair recommends starting a fresh save to experience the update as intended.

How to Find Your Local Saves

    1. Launch Palworld and select Start Game, then click your world.
    2. Select the Folder Icon at the bottom left corner of your screen.

    3. Click the other folder at the top to view the main save folder.
      Palworld Save Folder
The other folder is your SteamID64, e.g. “76561198371917908”.
    4. Keep this open for later. You might want to copy the file path at the top.

    Converting Local Save Files

    1. Head towards the Palworld Save Converter by TroubleChute.
    2. Upload your entire save folder. Copy/paste the file path if needed to access the folder.
      Palworld Convert Save
    3. Enter your SteamID64 (click here to find yours).
      Palworld Convert Save
    4. Click Convert in the bottom right corner, then download the zip file.

    5. Open this zipped file, then drag + drop its contents in your main save folder.

This will replace existing files with your converted data so the server registers it properly.

    Uploading Your Local Save

    1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface and stop the server.
    2. Access the server files via an FTP program like FileZilla or Cyberduck.
      Nitrado FileZilla
    3. Navigate to the palworld/Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0 directory.
    4. Create a new folder named with the same string of characters as your local save folder.
Alternatively, you can rename the existing server save folder to your local folder.
    5. Upload your entire save files inside of it. Wait for everything to be transferred.

    6. Navigate to Tools > File Browser in your Web Interface.
      Nitrado FIle Browser
    7. Go to the palworld/Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer directory.
    8. Locate and open the GameUserSetting.ini file editor.
    9. Change the DedicatedServerName= option to the world name you uploaded.
      Nitrado Palworld Server Settings
      E.g. DedicatedServerName=EFC861A04CA791D3EB701CBD4EA1463E
    10. Save these changes, then start up your Palworld server & join.

    Common Issues

    Server Loads a Fresh World

If the server boots up and it’s a brand new save file (no structures, new characters), then the server configuration file cannot find or read your uploaded save folder. Here’s the fix:

    1. Stop the server and open the GameUserSettings.ini file.
    2. Verify that DedicatedServerName= matches your save folder’s name exactly.
    3. Ensure the save folder was uploaded directly into the 0 directory.

Being Forced to Create a New Character

If you see structures and bases in the world, then that means the only data missing are the players. Here’s the fix:

    1. Stop your server completely.
    2. Double-check your SteamID64 to ensure it is 100% accurate.
    3. Run the Palworld Save Converter again, making sure to select the right folder.
    4. Delete the old save folder via FTP and re-upload the new one.
