Duplicated Mods / Plugins

One of the most common issues when setting up a modded Hytale server is duplicated mods or plugins. Let’s say you’ve uploaded one mod, then the same file again at a later date. Maybe you wanted to update it, but the older version is still installed on the server. This results in an error message in the Live Server Console, pointing to duplicated issues.

Error Message Example:

[HytaleServer] Failed to boot HytaleServer!
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Tried to load duplicate plugin

Fix: Delete duplicated mod / plugin files from Mod Manager or File Browser in the mods folder.

Missing Dependencies

In some cases, mods or plugins might require dependencies to work properly. This is typically listed on their official mod page or description, along with other specific instructions for a successful installation. Make sure you download and install the dependencies alongside the main mod or plugin you want for the Hytale server.

Fix: Download all listed dependencies, then install them with the main mod or plugin file.

Conflicting Mods / Plugins

On rare occasions, certain mods and plugins could be conflicting with other ones. This can easily happen if you install two mods that change the same mechanic(s) on the server. Sometimes, the developer would specify which mods or plugins are problematic on their official page or description.

Fix: Disable / delete individual mods or plugins to find the one conflicting on your server.

IP / Port Configuration

Some mods and plugins might require advanced setups, such as setting up a live server map viewer on your website. The default port for these kinds of setups can be “8080”, but you would need to change that to an available port. Let’s say you get assigned port 10010, you can use 10019 for the mod / plugin setup. Effectively, you have a range of +9 from your initial server port. Additionally, if the setup asks for you to enter a valid IP Address – make sure it’s the one your server uses. Addresses like 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0 can lead to issues.

Fix: Edit the plugin or mod config file via the File Browser, then change the port / IP field & save.
