    INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT ZOMBOID MODS

    Journeying through the undead lands of Project Zomboid, many exciting adventures await as traveling through the terrifying towns in search of loot, progress your character with new skills, and explore & survive the apocalypse. In your quest to survive, your experience can be enhanced by using server mods that offer additions of vehicles, features, and new maps you can try with your friends!

    Only taking a few minutes to add mods to your Project Zomboid game and server, you can add everything from a ‘90 Mercedes-Benz, sun-sensitive zombies, Fallout power armor, improved item sorting, and more for all of your server players to enjoy. Follow us past the zombies and into our safe house, as we show you to find and install Project Zomboid mods to your game and Project Zomboid game server!

    HOW TO INSTALL PROJECT ZOMBOID MODS

    FINDING PROJECT ZOMBOID MOD IDS & WORKSHOP IDS

    1. Open Steam and access your game library.
    2. Select the Project Zomboid game and click the “Workshop” option.

    3. Scroll through the mods and click on the particular mods you’d like to use:

    4. Inside the Steam mod page, in the description you will be able to find both the workshop ID and the mod ID to add to your server:

    5. Save these IDs for each mod, as we will need these to enable them on your personal Project Zomboid server.

    HOW TO INSTALL PROJECT ZOMBOID MODS TO YOUR GAME

    1. Access Steam and go to your Steam game library.
    2. Press the Project Zomboid game and then select the “Workshop” option.

    3. Go through the workshop and locate the mods you’d like to use. Click on those mods:

    4. Inside each mod, press the “Subscribe” button to subscribe to that mod. Do this for each mod you’d like to add.

    5. Once done, open the Project Zomboid game and press the “MODS” option in the main menu.
    6. To the left, select the mods you wish to activate and then press the “Disabled” button on them to enable each mod.

    7. Press the “Back” button and those mods will be enabled for your Project Zomboid game!

    HOW TO INSTALL PROJECT ZOMBOID SERVER MODS

    1. Open your Project Zomboid server panel and on the left under “SETTINGS”, select “General”.

    2. In your settings, scroll down and locate the “Workshop Items” option. Add each of the Project Zomboid mod Steam Workshop IDs here like in the screenshot below. If you are adding more than one mod please separate them with a semicolon.

    1. Once the Steam Workshop IDs are added, scroll up to the “Additional Mods” setting, and here, add each of the mod IDs for those particular mods like this, if more than one item is being added, separate them with a semicolon.

     

    1. Press “Save changes” at the bottom and restart your Project Zomboid server.
    2. Once online, your server will have the Project Zomboid mods you added!

    ENABLING PROJECT ZOMBOID MAP MODS

    1. Begin by ensuring that the Project Zomboid Steam Workshop map mod is added to your server along with its dependencies. You can check the Steam Workshop mod’s page for information regarding the mod including if other workshop mods are required, the Workshop ID, Mod ID, and Map Folder name which is all required:

    2. Inside your Project Zomboid server setting, with the Workshop ID and Mod ID added you can now set that Map Folder name inside of the “Map” option:

    3. After adding those map IDs and the name, press “Save changes” at the bottom and restart your server.
    4. Your server will now use that custom modded Project Zomboid map!

    VERSION MISMATCH ERRORS – HOW TO FIX

    When using mods on a Project Zomboid server, you can experience issues with the versions not matching which results in you and your friends being unable to join the server. To fix this, you’ll need to make sure that both your Project Zomboid game and your Project Zomboid game server are up-to-date, and we’ll show you exactly how to perform those updates.

    HOW TO UPDATE YOUR PROJECT ZOMBOID SERVER

    Project Zomboid server updates are typically pushed around three hours after the game updates. To apply an update to your server, restart your server and the update will install. *You can also restart your server to update Steam Workshop mod versions if a mod author releases a new update.

    UPDATING YOUR PROJECT ZOMBOID GAME

    Access your Steam account and go to your “DOWNLOADS” section. If there is an update available, you will be able to press the “UPDATE” button to begin downloading that Project Zomboid update. *Steam will also automatically update games if you have enabled this in your Steam settings.
