Upload Hytale Singleplayer Save to Server

Upload Hytale Singleplayer Save to Server

Ready to carve out your place in the vastness of Hytale? Moving your local singleplayer world to a dedicated server is the best way to share your unique creations and adventures with friends. It ensures that the progress you have made solo can become the foundation for a thriving community.

In this Nitrado guide, we will walk you through locating your local files and choosing the best upload method for your needs. Whether you want to transfer everything at once or manage your world and player data separately, we’ve got you covered.

    Preparation: Locating Local Files

Before you can upload your adventure, you need to access the specific files stored on your computer. Hytale makes this directory easy to access directly from the game menu.

    1. Open the Hytale launcher and start the game.
    2. Navigate to the Worlds menu to see your list of singleplayer saves.

This will open the universe directory on your computer. Keep this window open, or copy the file path, as you will need it for FileZilla shortly.

    Connecting via FileZilla

To transfer entire folders successfully, you must use an external FTP client. We recommend FileZilla.

    1. Navigate to your Dashboard on your Nitrado Web Interface.

    2. Locate the FTP Credentials section to find your Hostname, Port, Username, and Password.

    3. Open FileZilla and enter these credentials to connect.

    4. On the right side of FileZilla (Remote Site), you will see your server’s files.

Pro Tip: We strongly recommend right-clicking the universe folder on the right side and selecting Download to create a backup before uploading your new files.

    Choose Your Upload Method

Depending on your goal, you can choose one of the following methods. Stop your server before performing any of these uploads and keep a backup of the files just in case!

Option 1: The Full Transfer (Recommended)

If you want to move your entire singleplayer experience – including the world maps, all buildings, and your player’s inventory and stats – this is the most efficient method.

    1. On the left side of FileZilla (Local Site), navigate to the folder you opened in the “Preparation” step.

    2. On the right side (Remote Site), navigate to the root directory where the server’s universe folder is located.

    3. Right-click the universe folder on your local side and select Upload or simply drag and drop to the remote side.
    4. Confirm that you want to overwrite the existing folder if prompted.

Option 2: Uploading World Data Only

Use this method if you want to keep the terrain and buildings from your singleplayer save but want all players (including yourself) to start with fresh inventories and stats.

    1. On the left side of FileZilla, open your local universe folder and locate the worlds directory.

    2. On the right side, navigate to universe > worlds.

    3. Drag and drop your specific world folder from the left side to the right side to upload it.

Note: Ensure your server settings are updated to load this specific world name upon restart.

Option 3: Uploading Player Data Only

Use this method if you have an existing server world you want to keep, but you want to import your character’s progress (inventory, position, and stats) from singleplayer.

    1. On the left side of FileZilla, open your local universe folder and locate the players directory.

Upload Hytale Singleplayer Save to Server - Local Site Players Folder

    2. On the right side, navigate to universe > players.

Upload Hytale Singleplayer Save to Server - Remote Site Players Folder

    3. Select the specific player data files you wish to transfer and drag them to the server’s players folder on the right.

Your Hytale World, Now on Server

Once you’ve transferred your data and restarted your server, that’s it! Your singleplayer journey is now a shared experience. By following these steps, you ensure that your server reflects exactly the data you want to preserve, giving you total control over your community’s adventure.

    Hytale World Migration – FAQ

Will transferring my singleplayer world erase my Hytale server data?

If you move the entire “universe” folder to your Hytale server, it will overwrite any multiplayer data. To prevent this, you can either upload only your singleplayer save folder(s) or rename the server’s universe folder before transferring, ensuring it’s not replaced.

Can I transfer several Hytale singleplayer worlds at once?

Yes, you can easily upload multiple worlds from your singleplayer “universe > worlds” folder. Simply upload the desired folders into your server to transfer your saves. If you choose to migrate the entire universe folder, all your singleplayer worlds will be transferred.

Do Hytale singleplayer mods or packs transfer automatically?

No, mods and packs don’t automatically transfer. You’ll need to manually install them to your server. This process involves copying your local mods (such as .jar or .zip files and modding folders) into the appropriate mods directory on your server.

Why can’t I see my world after uploading it to the server?

Use the /world list command in-game to check if your world is on the server. You may need to be an admin or have operator permissions to use this command. If your world shows up, you can teleport to it using /tp world [world_name]. If it’s not listed, restart the server and double-check that you’ve transferred all the necessary singleplayer files.
