XML - Setting Player Spawns in DayZ

XML – Setting Player Spawns in DayZ

    DayZ wiki.png

Rent your own prepaid DayZ server for PC, PS4, or Xbox today at Nitrado.net

Here, you will learn how to configure player spawn points on your DayZ server.

    Where to Start?

To set player spawn points, you’ll need to gather your coordinates and modify the “cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml” file accordingly. Let’s get started.

    Important Notes:

    • You only need to adjust the position bubbles, not the spawn grid.
    • It’s recommended to make these changes from a PC.
    • Ensure your server is stopped before editing any files.
    • Skipping this step can cause severe problems on the server.
    • We suggest stopping the server for 3-5 minutes before making any changes.
    • Save your changes and then restart the server.

    Gathering Coordinates

You can gather coordinates in a few ways:

    1. Use a helpful site like “iZurvive,” which displays coordinates:
    1. Alternatively, you can gather a specific position from the admin log by letting a zombie or a friend hit you. The log line will look something like this:
    • 23:49:05 | Player "gamertag" (id=tagID - pos=<12085.7, 3391.4, 3.0>)[HP: 20.5783] hit by Infected into Torso(1) for 6.75 damage (MeleeZombie_Heavy)
    • The part in the line above, pos=<12085.7, 3391.4, 3.0>, will be your X and Z coordinates.
    1. You can also enable the “Log Playerlist” option on your Settings > General page. The log line will look like this:
    • 12:12:42 | Player "gamertag" (id=TAGID - pos=<12015, 3455.1, 5.7>)

    Editing Spawn Coordinates

To edit your spawn coordinates, you will need to access the cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml file.

    • Navigate to your Nitrado Web Interface.
    • From the dashboard, on the left-hand side, go to Tools > File Browser to access the server settings.
    • Open the following folders: dayzxb_missions > dayzOffline.chernarusplus.
    • Now, click on and open your cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml file.
    • Scroll down to the line <generator_posbubbles>:

      Generator Position Bubbles

    • Remove any default spawn points that you don’t want.
    • We have set a single spawn point in Kamyshovo. Here’s how it will look:

      Grid Spawn DayZ

    • Your character will now spawn only in this location (visualized with the
      iZurvive map):
