The latest update has arrived in DayZ, update 1.19. Being a highly anticipated update, DayZ 1.19 brings with it some powerful new items, features, and additions. Everything from an update to Livonia to an assortment of bug fixes. One of the main focuses of this update revolves around repairs to make games and servers run smoother.
The different fixes include repairs to clipping, falling issues, and new methods of running. All of which have been made editable on servers. Bleeding is seeing an upgrade in DayZ! Moving forward when you are bleeding, an optional on-screen bleeding indicator will appear. This will help players to notice bleeding and cuts more easily and provides details about the injury.
The water movement system in DayZ was also adjusted. Rather than allowing players to freely sprint through water, a new system was put into place that checks the height of water on your character. If water is above your character’s hip level, this will now restrict players to only walking or jogging if you have the sprint modifier active. Avoiding water may be a faster way to travel moving forward in DayZ!
Inertial is a feature that is already in DayZ but rarely impacts a player’s movement. With the DayZ 1.19 update, this is changing. To induce more realistic movement, it now takes a little time to reach full speed and stop your character. This includes changing directions while sprinting.
This change may not be suitable for all DayZ communities and thanks to the developers, they have implemented a set of server-side settings to adjust inertia. Inertia can be adjusted on servers by editing the settings in the cfgGameplay.json. The following new settings have been added and can be edited on dedicated DayZ servers:
One of the largest highlights of the DayZ 1.19 update features a large variety of bug and issue fixes for the game, launcher, modding, and DayZ game servers. With over 50 fixes implemented, these are the important fixes you need to know when you play DayZ 1.19.
Objects and character limbs were found to be clipping through certain geometry or into the body of a player. This included 40mm smoke grenades clipping through objects and characters’ arms clipping into their body while running with a fireworks launcher. Many of these clipping issues have been resolved in DayZ!
Another difficult issue DayZ players faced involved randomly falling off the edges of certain objects like tree trunks while going down a hill. This falling action would cause players to move too far forward, as well as decrease their speed, sometimes resulting in that player dying. With the DayZ 1.19 update, a fix has been implemented to ensure this will no longer be an issue for players.
A tremendous addition to DayZ coming from update 1.19 is vehicle simulation. Specifically from Enfusion’s vehicle simulation. The goal of this addition was to help bring stability to the many issues surrounding vehicle simulation with the help of the Enfusion team. This change results in many vehicles feeling entirely different but offering more fun as you drive them around.
The vehicle improvements do not just stop at movement either! Various new features have been added to vehicles including an automatic transmission for a new upcoming vehicle, hand breaks, and car horns. To help control these new features, the vehicle HUD has received an update. Using the HUD will provide you with detailed information regarding the state of your vehicle. Which vehicle will you take out on the road first when playing DayZ 1.19?
Livonia was included in this update too, bringing dozens of new places to explore. These new places include:
It’s been hinted that some of these places may contain puzzles players can solve. New dynamic events will also be included as well for players to enjoy on the map. Which area will you venture to first? Explore Livonia for yourself and uncover new places with your friends!
On top of all of the other exciting news, DayZ modding is also getting better for mod developers. This is thanks to the introduction of new tools within a DayZ diagnostic executable called DayZDiag_x64. This program includes a script profiler, a free camera, geometry debug options, a vehicle simulation debug, central economy debugs, a loot spawn point editor, damage system debugs, and a lot more. You can keep an eye out on DayZ.com for official information and documentation of this program!
Knowing everything that is inside of the DayZ 1.19 update, there is so much new content to try! Will you hide out in the amusement park for unsuspecting visitors? Or maybe grab the new BK-12 shotgun and check out the new areas in Livonia with your ride-and-die? Not to mention the powerful new vehicle, movement, and bleeding indicator systems to help you along the way. No matter the path you go down in DayZ, bring your friends along and prepare for a fun time when you play on your DayZ server!
