The Forest – Full release, Now Available on Steam

The Forest – Goodbye Early Access, Hello Full Release!

Greetings The Forest fans! It is an exciting day as The Forest makes its way out of Early Access. Today, April 30th, 2018, marks the date of Full Release for the terrifying first person survival horror simulator. There is still more that the developers want to do. Further optimizations, fixes, and additions will make their way into the build over time. With the release, you can expect some new stuff already! From a craftable warm suit, a significant re-work of the endgame and as well as an alternate ending. Pick up The Forest on Steam if you haven’t already:

The release information has also provided word on the first Major update that we can look forward to! Here is a word from the developers on the coming major update:

Today we are also announcing our first major update to the game. The VR version of The Forest will release for free to all players of the game, on May 22. It’s the full game, with your hud on a smart watch, a full 3d inventory, and tree cutting using motion controls. We think it’s the most fun vr game we’ve ever played and can’t wait to share it with everyone.

Remember to continue to post your bug reports and feedback in the Steam Discussions for The Forest Community Hub. Here is a full list of the fixes for some difficulties that came up last night:

Pre-release patch 04:

• Put back in launcher to make switching resolutions easier and switching which monitor launches
• Fixed tree houses turning invisible when repaired
• Added back in a loading optimization that should speed up loading save games (should fix players getting stuck on R when loading – if issue persists let us know and send us the save games if possible)
• Options are now slightly pushed back and repositioned to properly fit in ratios other than 16/9
• Fixed issue with screen being overly bright on some machines as multiple tone mapping was applied
• Should fix some log sled issues in old saves
• Fixed range of skull light hanging
• Added back the visuals for active cheats in title screen
• Fixed missing waterskin and old pot water content status and %

If you are running a dedicated server, you will need to restart your server with the latest version to be compatible with this patch release.
