As you wander around the world, biome-specific mobs will appear nearby. These can be pigs, cows, and chickens that all have their own unique variants. This is similar to wolves being different according to their biome, but with farm animals. While exploring the savannas, you can find different pigs compared to forests. This feature adds a bit of immersion to your adventure, as each mob type blends nicely with its surroundings.
If you find yourself in a desert or near a river, you might see some new natural decorative blocks. These include, Leaf Litter, Wildflowers, Firefly Bushes, Cactus Flowers, and Dry Grass. The desert is no longer completely dead! You can find nice pink flowers blooming from cactuses. On the other hand, firefly bushes emanate in the night with dazzling fireflies dancing in the air. Players can use these various decorations to improve their bases, both exterior and interior.
More of a quality of life change, the Cartographer now has the ability to sell you maps of different village types, jungle temples, and witch huts. This comes in handy when you’re wanting a specific village or to treasure hunt in lost temples around the jungles. As for the Wandering Trader, they now have a wider range of items to buy and sell you! Before the Minecraft 1.21.5 Spring to Life update, this mysterious villager was typically dismissed since no good items were offered. That changes today!

Instead of the standard spawn egg design, Mojang decided to completely redesign each egg to match its mob type. For instance, the creeper now has its iconic face on the egg! Each item has a unique design, with some being small while others are large. This can help differentiate between mobs when you’re in creative mode wanting to spawn them in-game. It can also be used for decorations via item frames, as they make for great artwork 🖼️

How do you make the Minecraft world more realistic? We don’t know, but Mojang sure does! With the Spring to Life update, players can now find fallen trees in forests and other areas. On top of that, leaf particles will fall from leaves and be collected in the leaf litter below. There’s going to be a lot of dead leaves, so if you’re planning to build a house – you might want to clear them out. Otherwise, they make for great decorations and add a bit of flare to your base’s surroundings.
The first Minecraft Live of 2025 finished with a bang 💥 We saw a glimpse into the second game drop, showcasing ghastlings in the Overworld?! Yup – and players can even mount one to soar through the blue skies. This can help with building sky bases or extremely large builds in survival mode.
