The Ashlands

We’ll start by exploring the Ashlands! This new biome, you can try it in the beta test of the game, has been integrated into the world of Valheim and presents volcanic landscapes. These can only be accessed by journeying across the ocean, as it is surrounded by sea. Be careful though, as you will face numerous dangers along the way and even more upon arrival. You might even encounter the Bonesaw Serpent, a sea serpent covered in sharp, pointed bones that will undoubtedly cause you and your friends trouble.
 
Upon arrival, you’ll find that the terrain around the biome has been lowered and turned to the ocean. On land, you´ll find burnt forests surrounding the shores, reminding us that there was a time when the Ashlands were a lush forest teeming with life before the devastation occurred. As you venture deeper, you’ll encounter structures with remnants of ancient civilizations scattered throughout for you to explore and uncover their secrets. Additionally, you’ll face fortresses filled with challenges and formidable enemies like the Charred and Fallen Valkyries.

Additionally, throughout the map, you will find these small altars where one of the new enemies spawns, the Twitcher. These small staggering skeletons pose a challenge for players. You’ll have to proceed with caution as these randomly spawning altars could be anywhere on the map.

The biomes within Valheim are designed to increase in difficulty as you progress through the story. Ashlands is by far one of the most difficult biomes integrated into this mystical world, so you’ll need to be well-prepared. The item obtained by defeating The Queen will be very useful for exploring this new biome. If you had already obtained it before the update, simply drop it outside the inventory and pick it up again to unlock the new recipes.
 
Before entering and enjoying this new experience, remember that since it’s a beta test, the mods you use may cause issues with the game’s proper execution. Therefore, we recommend disabling all mods and uninstalling any loaders so that the beta test can open correctly.

Decoration

Another aspect to highlight in this beta test is the inclusion of over 50 structures/furniture that change the way bases are decorated and designed within Valheim. One of the new decorative structures that you can try is this ornamental window built with the new wood material, which can be found in the Ashlands along with the new diagonal floor design of the biome.

As you explore these new lands, you will come across the skeletal remains of creatures that perished in the harsh environment of the Ashlands. These skulls will serve you to create new decorations that not only adorn your home but also provide you with benefits.

They also introduce a new type of plant, vines, which can grow on any vertical surface, allowing you to decorate your constructions in new ways. Additionally, you can plant them and harvest fruits from them.

Weapons and Armor

With the new biome, new specialized materials are integrated, and with this, new weapons and armor! The new armor design for this biome is inspired by the power of fire, which is not only destructive but also a symbol of rebirth and new beginnings. That’s why they decided to name the armor after one of the first two humans in Norse mythology: Embla.

The weapons integrated with this update will be customizable with crystals, so you can give them the characteristic that suits you best or that you like the most. Which weapons and armors will you try to use first?
