Whether you need access to player control commands to ban users, set up a ban list, or whitelist your server so that only certain players can join, you can do it all. Managing Your Valheim Server Players – Getting Started

To manage your Valheim server, there are two methods you can use. You can either become an admin and manage players using Valheim admin commands, or you can edit the admin list files directly on your server. These lists include a ban list, a permitted/white list, and an admin list for adding new admins to your server.

Admin List – Giving Valheim Admin Commands

To start using Valheim admin commands, ensure you are set as an admin. Below, we’ll show you how to become an admin using the “Config Files” option on your server.

• Go to your Valheim server web interface and stop your server.

• Then, on the left side under “Settings”, click “Config Files”.

• Find the SteamID64 of the player you wish to add as an admin using SteamID.io, and insert their ID into the “Steam-ID” box on your server.

• Finally, press the “Save Changes” button.
• Restart your server.

Valheim Ban List

Besides adding users as admins to your server, you can also add players to a list to ban them permanently. Once banned, a player cannot join your server unless they are unbanned or removed from the ban list. Follow these steps to add a user to your ban list:

1. Go to your Valheim server control panel and stop your server.
2. On the left under “Tools”, select “Player Control”.
3. Press “Add player” and use the dropdown list to select “Banlist”.

1. Use a website like SteamID.io to find the user’s SteamID64 and add that ID into the “Steam-ID” box.
2. Finally, select “Add” to ban the player. That user will now be added to your server’s ban list and will no longer be able to join!

Server Whitelist Controls

1. Go to your Nitrado server web interface and press “Stop” to turn off your server.
2. On the left under “Tools”, click “Player Control”.
3. Click “Add player” and select “Whitelist” from the list.

1. Find the user’s SteamID64 from SteamID.io and insert it into the “Steam-ID” box.
2. Once done, press “Add” and start your Valheim server! That player will now be whitelisted.

Once a player is added to the whitelist, only whitelisted players can join your server. Make sure to whitelist all your friends and players to allow them access to your Valheim server.
