Downloading Mods

We recommend using trusted platforms like Nexus Mods or CurseForge to find and download Windrose mods. These sources are widely used by the community and are considered safe, offering a large library of mods.
 
Before downloading, always check that the mod is compatible with the latest version of Windrose to avoid potential issues such as crashes or failed loads. Once downloaded, extract the file if it comes in a compressed format like .zip, .7z, or .rar using tools such as 7-Zip or WinRAR.
 
After extraction, you’ll typically see a .pak file along with additional files such as .utoc or .ucas. It’s important to keep all of these files together in the same folder, as separating them may prevent the mod from working correctly in-game.

Installing Mods

Almost all mods require you to install them on your client and server to play with them. However, server-side only mods don’t need to be installed on your computer. Follow the sections accordingly below to begin modding Windrose!

Client

1. Open your Steam Library, right-click Windrose and click Manage > Browse Local Files.
2. Navigate to the directory: R5 / Content / Paks.
3. Check for a folder named ~mods (the tilde is required). If it does not exist, create it.
4. Move your extracted .pak, .utoc, and .ucas files into this ~mods folder.

Server

1. Stop your Windrose server completely via the Nitrado web interface.
2. Navigate to Tools > File Browser on the left of your Dashboard.
3. Enter the Mods directory, then click Upload File on the right.
4. Select the .pak file(s) and any others like .utoc & .ucas.
5. When they’re all uploaded, return to the main Dashboard and start the server.

Why aren’t my Windrose mods working?
