Let’s dive into the details of FS22!

Farming Simulator 22 will have a lot of new additions and more freedom than ever before. Now you will experience the seasonal cycles on two new maps and an updated Erlengrat map. These maps are inspired by American and European environments that will allow you to try different farming operations with more than 400 machines and tools from 100+ authentic agricultural brands.

New Maps

Here is a peek at Elmcreek, the new US map in Farming Simulator 22.

The focus of Elmcreek is on vast areas of farmland. It is a large industrial area with some residential areas and businesses. There are still spurs of infrastructure reminiscent of a large town on the map. There’s a gas station, various small businesses, residential areas, even a baseball stadium, and a bowling center. But also, if you pay close attention, there are some spots to discover that are even special to the seasonal cycles in the game.

Have you ever taken a trip to the French countryside? Soon you can do just that from the comfort of your gaming chair. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Haut-Beyleron, the French map in Farming Simulator 22.

There are plenty of places to explore in Haut-Beyleron, all part of the beautiful hillside and the various sell points to sell your goods. In the center of the map, you’ll notice a castle – only one of the influences that came from south-eastern communes like Sisteron, which is also called the ‘Gateway to Provence’.

Improved Performance & Graphics

Farming Simulator 22 aims to be as realistic and beautiful as possible. A reason why the new version of the developer’s very own game engine, GIANTS Engine 9, will implement multiple performance and graphics features.

Maybe the most impactful among them is Parallax Occlusion Mapping. Parallax Occlusion will make the terrain and other surfaces in the game look more detailed and dynamic. The result looks very realistic and adds depth. Like the tire tracks on your field, for example, trenching in the ground.

And no need to worry about performance issues, as this technology will not tax your hardware. The intensity of this feature can be adjusted within the graphical settings.

New Crops and Production Chains

Another new feature worth mentioning is Production Chains, opening the possibility of extending your farming operation into new businesses.

Let’s take the grain mill, for example. Now, the grain mill isn’t just a place to sell your wheat. It’s a production plant and a placeable that processes your grains. Either visit a mill that’s already placed on the map or build one yourself on a piece of land you own.

Instead of just selling your wheat after harvesting, you can also transport it to the mill to get some fine flour. Deliver that to the bakery, and you have the option to produce bread or cake. Most production plants have multiple production chains available, with varying inputs and outputs. They’re listed as recipes, showing you what’s possible and what’s required.

In addition to these new Production chains, three new crops will be added: Grapes, olives, and sorghum.

Grapes and olives are not just two new crop types added to the list but come with new gameplay mechanics that will affect various sections in-game.

And sorghum? It’s a popular crop in the United States, perfect for the Midwest-inspired map Elmcreek. Since it’s a highly nutritious crop, it steadily gains more importance around the globe in warmer regions – making it a fitting addition to the list of grains in Farming Simulator.

Free DLC

Last but not least, there already is a free DLC for Farming Simulator 22 in the making: Precision Farming.

The first version of Precision Farming for Farming Simulator 19 added ‘smart’ farming technology to the game. It was a great success and was downloaded one million times worldwide on PC and consoles.

The FS22 version of the Precision Farming DLC, scheduled to release in the Spring of 2022, will include the features of the initial version like soil types, soil sampling, variable rate applications, and economic analysis.

But the focus of the new DLC will go even further. To increase the sustainability of your farm, optical sensors will be coming! Further details and new features will become public soon.
