How to Up-/Downgrade Your Nitrado Server

How to Up-/Downgrade Your Nitrado Server

A thriving community often outgrows its original boundaries. Adjusting your capacity on demand ensures you always have the right setup for your player base. In this Nitrado guide, we explain how to upgrade / downgrade your server without losing your progress.

    Upgrading and Downgrading Your Server

Controlling your hosting setup means adapting to exactly what your community requires. The billing system automatically recalculates your remaining runtime when you adjust resources mid-cycle. Adding capacity reduces your remaining days. Removing capacity extends your current runtime based on the leftover account credit.

    1. Login to your Nitrado account, and navigate to the My Services section.
Note: It is very important to have your server stopped before making any changes.

    2. Select the server you want to modify, expand it to reveal more options, and click on Service Settings.

Pro Tip: Always create a manual backup of your world before applying significant capacity changes to protect your progress.

    Player Slots

The slot limit dictates exactly how many people can connect to your world at the same time. Bumping this number up allows more friends to join the adventure, while dropping the limit restricts access and lowers your overall hosting cost. Pick a number that reflects your active daily players.

    RAM

While base memory allocations handle vanilla gameplay perfectly well, complex modpacks and massive save files need extra memory to process background tasks. Increasing your RAM keeps tick rates stable when your community builds massive bases or explores generated terrain at high speeds. You can always drop back to the base memory limit if you decide to remove heavy mods later.

    Runtime

Your rental period determines how long the server remains active before requiring renewal. Adding days secures your world for the upcoming months. Reducing your runtime is tied directly to slot or RAM changes, as the system converts your existing time into credit to cover the upgraded costs.

    Command Your World

Taking control of your hosting setup means your community never has to wait in queues or deal with unoptimized performance. And adjusting your limits as your group evolves lets you focus on building the ultimate multiplayer experience.
