How do I Host a DayZ server?

We recommend keeping in mind the number of players you'll have joining, how many bases there will be in the world, and how many mods you might try. The more players, bases, and mods, the larger the DayZ server plan you'll want. Yes, you can install mods on DayZ servers for PC. However, for DayZ console servers it is currently not possible to install mods. If you’re looking to use mods, we recommend a DayZ PC server.

Yes, you can restrict access by setting a password for your server. This way, only you and your friends with the password can enter. It's up to you whether you leave it open to the public or make it private with exclusive access through a password.
